Three speed would be '62-'64. Or maybe even earlier. Four speed would be '64 only. By the length of the tail housing. And the location of the shifter mount. I would bet full size car. New Process 833 four speed first year is '64. But really not worth a heck of a lot because of the bolt on flange for the drive shaft. Which was '64 only for that trans.
If it's four speed. Only one gear set that year. I think. Would have to look it up if you want to know.
Thanks Guy's.. Must be a 64 A833.. Cool cause I got the (2892626) bellhousing with it. So looks like it should just bolt into this car...
There should be a date code on it.....the 833 4 speed actually was made available late in the 1963 model year for the latest 426 max wedge and does have value to those looking for resto parts as most of those early 63/64 trans cases were chucked for the gears....of note the little A-body did carry the short tail version over into 1965...
That IS a 1963 or 64 A-833 4 speed. The date codes on the castings will help you narrow down the model year if you need to.
that would be nice.....my early trans is sitting in the same spot it has been maybe a good 30 years...?....it was maybe my second 4sp mopar I got...
1963 Mopars still used BorgWarner T10 behing 383, 361,etc and a HD 3 speed behind MAX Wedge . In 64 or 65 the Darts had a close ratio and the rest had a wide ratio 23 spline.
Hmmmm.. Well it's an A833 for sure. Long tail shaft. I don't know what three speed is in it? The bolt pattern on the three speed appears to be (Symmetrical). Where as the 833 has the offset bolt.
the 2892626 bell should be good....might need another flywheel....# 2264597....funny - it is what they show 62/63/64/65...4sp....might be able to get a later #....the 289 # should be about a 1968 bell housing...
Very nice... Thank you. Everybody should get a copy of that.. I have the flywheel... Just need to figure out the (Balance) method used' so I can make sure that the motor is balanced with the flywheel properly... It is a 143 tooth flywheel. I believe 11". And the bell housing also seems to be 11". The irony in all of this is that. The motor in the car (is) a 68' 383. So the bell housing and flywheel appear to be correct for this application. The car is a 64 and the box is (Flange) type.. So I guess the thing to do is see if there are any (Area) problems with the larger bell housing??? figure out which clutch to use? And then the hunt for a 4 speed shifter and linkage...
While were at it... Does anybody know anything about the three speed that comes in a 64 Chrysler??? They seem to be a bit (Obscure). I guess there were two different types..???
