Mr Boone: I had the picture of your vette, on the wall (a**** other great cars) of my bedroom as a teenager. It was from a Petersen pictorial. Your car inspired my buddy to build a 671 blown `61 version in '73-'74. Best of luck in your search!

So post #14 was fictional, grammar aside...

  6. Thanks for such kind words. I'm happy it was an inspiration.
As far as #14 being as fictional... What do you know to the contrary?

  7. Nope but I do remember that Rosy Greer was his buddy until the deal with Kennedy.

Nice car. I like it when I see a Corvette that doesn't look like it came that way. ;)

If the car ran on Nitromethane what cl*** would that have been at the drags?

  11. We mostly ran street races with it, but because of the 25% setback of the engine it would have been in the AA/FA cl***. Those were the bad***es!

Did it win?.. Seems like a big weight difference...

  15. We did win, other than when we ran out of fuel that one time. Most guys would rather watch it run than to race it. We spotted most of our compe***ion up to 8 lengths.
It was a white elephant although it was completely street legal with a license plate, turn signals and everything else. You know, back in the day, an 8 second street car was unheard of.

Jerry Don’t know if you remember me we used to do the car show circuit in the early 70’s had a blue 23T roadster w/a wooden p/u bed we both lived in Riverside at the time and I transported the car in a box truck from our family’s unfinished furniture business. Anyway good luck hope you find it. Hey ya never know Purdomme found the 2nd Hot Wheels hauler in a backyard off Market St in Riverside. Glad to here you guys are still around. I have migrated back to Maine myself.

He has not been on here in three years. Try a PM, he might still have it hooked to his email. Worth a shot.

  21. Fearless Phil,
I remember the Gary Canning shows and I remember the T, the furniture store all of it. Those were good times! We sure didn’t realize how good we had it! Thank you for your post.

cool thread. was there anything to the post from t gl*** saying that the car was cut up?

  26. Strange story. Near as I can tell from the somewhat confusing post, Hamb member "t gl***" (who's only post is the one about this car) claims to have owned the Dudley Doright '57 Chevy with a friend. If I read it right, that friends name is Ernie Condly. In '68 or '69 Ernie Condly allegedly bought the Boone Vette (while still retaining half interest in Dudley). It then appears that Ernie had possession of both cars for several years even thought he only owned half of Dudley, never having bought the other half owned by his partner "t gl***". Fast forward to the year 2000 and "t gl***" visits Ernie and asks about the car they own together as well as the Boone Vette Ernie owns. Ernie responds with "I chopped them up because someone wanted to give me money for them". Based on the info in the post, we have no idea what year they were allegedly chopped up. Ernie apparently died a year later (2001ish I guess).

So ... someone out there must have known this Ernie Condly and may have an understanding as to what actually happened to both cars. If Ernie owned both those car, one having been in a or several magazines ... someone out there surely knows more than what "t gl***" posted.

I don't understand the reason behind destroying something someone is offering you money for but stranger things have happened. Here's a similar and even stranger story regarding the Phil Spector Daytona Cobra Coupe that'll leave you shaking your head ... https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a15149002/death-deception-and-the-4-million-cobra-feature/

My suggestion would be to try to locate any friends or family of Ernie to see if they can shed any light on this. Question for "t gl***" ... did the piles you saw in 2000 actually LOOK like it was made up of parts and pieces from an early Vette and a 57 Chevy or was he possibly just showing you his s**** pile, hoping you'd accept his story and leave?

It seems "t gl***" was last on here the day after he posted back in 2012. His profile shows him being 69 in 2012, living in Keyser WV and owning both a 56 Chevy 210 and racing a 70 Duster in NHRA Super Stock Modified. He might be worth tracking down as he may have a lot more info like where did Ernie live, was he married/have kids. Member of a car club etc. If I was looking for the Vette, I'd search out "t gl***", get all the info you can and move forward from there. Anyone here attend any drag strips local to Keyser WV recognize the description of "t gl***"? Looks like Keystone Raceway Park isn't too far from Keyser.
