Had to use the end of a file that fit last time I encountered those. A little pb blast first and they came right out .

I encountered these on Holley carbs too. Ace Hardware sells apple core drivers. Be sure to call them that when you go in to get them.

Hmmm clutch head and Apple core heads ;) I have never heard of them being called that. I have always heard them be called figure eight screws.

We had those on our 53 Ford. The only place I could find a driver was from the Snap on Tools guy.
Its the only snap on tool I own.

  5. How about the ones in the lavatories?
    Apple core with worm screws?

My all time favourite is the Robertson drive screws. Old Henry Ford wanted to use them I believe in the '30's but he wanted to licence use them. Robertson said they would have to be bought outright, period. If they were good enough for Henry, even though he was too cheap to use them, they must be pretty good.

As an architectural draftsman, I call those "lavatory panel security screws", but someone like McMaster-Carr may have a more technical term for them. screw.jpg

Those are S.O.B.s, that's what those are! Luckily, most of us don't have to deal with them.

Chevies of that vintage used clutch head screws if different places. I would replace them with another head style

I have yet to understand the high value placed on urinal dividers. who is stealing these half walls, and more importantly what are they doing with them!
So the front door to the whole building is held on by plain ol' Phillips screws but the pisser walls is were the real money is.

There is no money in bathroom wall panels. Those tamper proof screws are designed to stop the annoying ***holes who seem to think that it is funny to dis***emble the bathroom fixtures.

Somehow the Model A's built in Canada had the Robertson screws. Bob

and they are a Canadian invention...

  15. There are a few Robertson screws in my '51 shoebox. I figure I'll have to include a set of screwdrivers if I ever sell it to an American. :D

That's because the Robertson square drive screw is a Canadian invention, superior in every way to the American Phillips screw design.
