    Respect!

That ain't a bad car, less then five visual flaws.
But ain't bad, and I feel no love for the mill.

Tires, rims and steering wheel being the most painful to watch, in that order.

  3. If you really look at the car, it's not the front wheels that look 'off' but the rears; if they were 1" smaller with a same-diameter tire, that would help the proportions a lot....

Lets give props where they are due,the Bruce Canepa Deuce is beautiful and most of us are traditionalist so it is easy to understand the thoughts on the wheel and tire choice.

None the less,I would love to have it in my garage,,with the wheels & tires! HRP

Amen, Danny. Wrong wheels, wrong tire aspect ratio (maybe only 1" off!), wrong steering wheel, wrong _________. I get such a kick out of the nit-picking that goes on around here when presented with what is, by all reasonable standards, a drop-dead gorgeous hot rod. All I can say is, it's amazing what money can buy, and I mean that in a good way. God bless the folks who can make something this beautiful happen.

And, by the way, saying something is gorgeous is not the same thing as saying "that's the one I want". No, the one you want might also be gorgeous, just different. Peace, brothers.

  6. I think the car is drop dead gorgeous
    Paint, interior, stance, pedigree
It has it all- The builders artistic interpretation of Indy inspired wheels fits perfectly with the Gurney mill and pays homage to the Indy car designs of the 60's

Sorry- But I think the he whole package would be lost with mundane rings and caps or white walls
Maybe not Hamb-ish in total execution of theme- can't we just accept it for the well designed statement it is ?

Me too. I am always surprised how quick some guys are to jump on to the "it's wrong judgement bandwagon".

Wrong in their opinion and we know what that is worth.
Wrong in their eyes does not make them right.
And the car was not built for them or with their money.

Add that all up and it really points out the validity of their opinions :D:D

The sedan is beautiful no doubt. I think the build is outstanding and the whole package fits. That being said, for me HRP's sedan is more my taste. Like they say there is an *** for every seat! :p

The car is really nice, I like it just the way it sits. Not my taste but a really nice car. Not surprised Canepa built a hot rod (street rod ?). I see his ads in Autoweek for cars he is selling and he always has at least one hot rod, along with some incredible old sports cars, race cars, etc. Everything he does is top notch.

I spent a good bit of time looking at that car at SEMA. The suspension, though it has a lot of traditional cues, is a typical Steve Moal work of art with all sorts of racey technology...and knowing that makes the wheels make even more sense. Personally I think the proportions on that car look good, and the metal work is outstanding. Check the chop...and the reveal along the bottom edge of the body above the gas tank.

    Think Pink.

And even sometimes when it IS !!! (just speaking from personal experience, that is).

As a guy who bleeds Ford Blue, I have to say that engine knocked my socks off!
If Canepa felt the need to give me that car, the only thing I would change is the name on the ***le.

"How quick some guys jump to the wrong judgment" Is that your opinion? :)

I think it's absolutely gorgeous but yeah, I could do with an inch less wheel and an inch more sidewall. I sure as hell wouldn't kick it out of my garage though!

I like it but would swap out the wheels and tires......we had a nice black 32 tudor around here with similar wheels. Turns out they were simply aluminum slotted mags, turned around backwards and sand blasted/clear coated with fake knock-offs.
Tried to make a deal with the neighbor on his black 32 fordoor but he wouldn't deal. He p***ed away, leaving the car to his neighbor who doesn't know the first thing about hot rods or even old cars!

Must be a lot of different 'preferences' out there! Look at any manufacturer's catalogs and see the variety of choices offered......seems "one size" doesn't fit all....:D

Not an opinion, but rather an astute observation. :)

  18. It is a very well built car (as are a lot of other street rods) and the body work is impeccable (from what I can see in the pics) as would be expected from Moal. That being said, it's really not in my taste, I would actually prefer any of the other fordors posted in this thread over the feature.

But if we all liked the same things this hobby would be as boring as bat **** wouldn't it?

It is a BAD *** Ford door

  20. I love the car and the engine and think the tires make a nice balance between true rubber bands (yuck) and taller Bias plies.

What's the story on the "Indy" style wheels? Who makes them, what sizes, how much? Do they make a front wheel that is narrow enough to mount a H.A.M.B. friendly tire?

Killer hot rod, killer wheels, would like it better with more traditional sized tires.

Thanks Hemi................ I walked around it several times during setup at GNRS, but they already had the white carpet down and I was respectful. I kept looking at the front bumper, thinking the color was off and deciding that it was the reflection of the carpet. They are still too new & shiney to have that nice soft color that nickel takes on. It's really hard to see the sutle modifications an a black car, the body lines just disappear into the deep black shine. I for one love the wheels and tires. If I win the 360 million lottery this weekend I can afford it when Bruce sells it.

  25. Great car and I too like the wheel/tyre combo. I wouldn't call those tyres rubber bands.

Now this pic below shows some real rubber bands.

That's awesome, original low mile 32!

    What's integrated swaybar?
    Stock transverse leaf spring?

Not a big fan of the black zinch plating, but who am I to judge.

Still don't like wheels and tires, and that spinner is fugly, to me.
I got the upmost respect for the craftmanship on this!!
And I still preferres HRP over this!
Big I'm stubborn, traditional and a major league nobody.

I wouldn't change a thing on it. I'm a major fan of Halibrands, and can appreciate a late model engine every now and then. Maybe the tires are kinda low profile, but they look just right in this application. Not every car needs bias plys.

    Hi Hemi32:
Thanks for posting the info from the Canepa Facebook page. It gave a nice synopsis of the build and a dynamite picture of the 32 Fordor. Mr. Canepa does have great taste in machines if not always HAMB approved by the looks of his webpage and the cars he has owned. TEB
