Roy Olmstead (1886-1966), was a former Seattle policeman and the very successful operator of an “import/export liquor business” — buying alcohol spirits in Canada and delivered them to Mexico. In reality, Olmstead was Seattle’s biggest bootlegger, and most of the products bought in Canada were really destined for the United States, where prohibition was in full swing.

That is a Model A Ford in the background, so newer than 1925....

 

I am pretty partial to Oregon and Washington, so I tend to gravitate to those. I wander aimlessly through the interweb, so who knows where I end up following a photo's path.

 

At least they wrote "about" on it, kind of like "circa".

This is Portland looking west at the Morrison Bridge, with Francis Ford on the right.Union Ave. passes under the bridge ramps, it's there that Columbia Racing Engines was located and Ed "Ace" McCulloch took his famous ride on the city streets in the North Wind AA/FD. A great story!

 

More Portland, the Sellwood district. I shopped at the Piggly Wiggly there ( and Value Mart) many times.
