Technical Help ID 54 Chev accessory?

In the attached photo there is a draw or accessory of some kind at the lower left section of the dashboard picture to the right of the vent knob, on a '54 Chevy car interior. I have never seen such an accessory. Can anyone advise if it is a factory option or some other custom type of option that could be identified? Appears to have a handle for opening but looks like something OEM????? Stumped.

looks to me like an accessory ash tray? There were some vacuum powered ones available, that ****ed in the smoke and ash.

 

Extremely small photo which shows no detail but it could possibly be a aftermarket tissue holder. HRP

 

Necessities drawer is my guess. You know, change, gum, Luckys, Trojans, that kind of stuff........

 

This is an accessory ash tray..Its mounted in the wrong location..The correct location would be directly below the radio..Look there for the original holes in the original location...
