Chip---How is the Health? I hope you and Miss Judy are doing OK......

Hey Tim... Where is the pattern for that Gas Tank? I am headed to New Zealand in a little over Two Weeks, so get it to me so I can at least tack it up for you. Maybe a Hammerform lesson could be in the works....:D

Me three. Is there anybody there is closer to him then me, we talk driving distance, that can go talk to him!

It's not like I won't take one for the team, but flying over and beg him to make an appearance is more then my banking account can handle.
And leaving my wife alone with two kids, (4 weeks, 3 yrs) might get me in the naughty corner for the longest time. [emoji13][emoji12][emoji33]

They are missed by a lot of people, I think. They both added points of view that were worthwhile to the topic of discussion. Hope they both return, soon.:):D

Hi guys! I'm trying out a new asthma medicine, and it's taking a bit of getting used to, but it seems to be working. Hopefully I can get back to working my**** off this next week instead of just sort of covering my****, this next week.

Some one told me that Fred was on a couple of weeks ago, and has moved in with an elderly relative to take care of them and has very limited internet access for the time being. I hope we'll see him back soon. I've talked to George a bit since he got back in, but a bit occupied with other stuff right now. hope to see him back soon, too.

With any luck I'm in my last days or two of being pretty much flat on my****... I went out this morning to our monthly So-Cal second Saturday get together, and put Judy on plane along with a friend of hers for San Francisco for Chinese New Year.... Gonna be a quite weekend.

  11. Well, I'm guessing the upper shock mounts will never break, metal supply must have been fresh out of girders that day! Funny thing is, it wouldn't be hard to fix. Trash the shock mounts, get a real radiator shell, and trade the bucket body for C cab and it wouldn't be half bad.

  12. V6 powered too, I believe it has been around the scene for a few years now. Totally agree that with a new front end and grille, it would certainly improve the look.

I have to agree the pink T has a lot of ugly. Yes it's pink. My definition of Pink on a rod is anything that comes close to the color. I'll bet the builder/owner of it just doesn't give a***** what you and I think. You know that's all right. He is having fun and I'll bet he gets a lot of attention with it. He is just not right for this thread. Chip's thread here is for us who "give a*****". Funny and this probably sounds "sour grapes" in a local show here just my roadster and a fiberglass C cab that broke all the rules (junked up with everything you would find in a spook house) were in the same class and guess who won the prize. No not me. The owner was having more fun than anybody there. Had a crowd around him all day. I guess their truly is bliss in ignorance. What made it up for me was as I was driving out a guy with a truly '50s flathead powered A roadster stopped me to ask if those are really Tornado headlight brackets. I stopped and I talked for a long time to someone who really knew his*****.

Gary, that is why so many of those uglies were built, not everyone gets it. As they always say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and some people will always be drawn to all sorts of catastrophies. The lavender mess is a case study of what not to do when building a T-bucket, although he did do a couple of things that aren't too bad.

Hey***** ,I thought it was beauty is in the eye of the beerholder :D
In any case it is stupid looking creations like that pink ugly thing or the fiberglass C cab thing that caused Gary to feel ignored that the great uneducated public seem to be drawn to.
I find it all rather amusing. :)

As we have been pretty much snowed in the last day or two I sat and read all 198 pages of this post. You guys wrote "the bucket of ugly, a novel " . Epic. Lots of history, humour and tech, thanks a lot for a right entertaining read.
Chip, hope you feel better soon. Asthma*****s.

WOW, drag a pic of a guys T onto the HAMB and talk trash about it? He likes it and that's all that matters, atleast it doesn't have a dozen stickers in the windshield.

Yes, I understand that point, but the owner didn't post it asking what we thought or how it could be improved. If maybe it was posted as a T with nice this or that, just needed some refinements, than great. The pic was posted just to talk trash about it, that was my point.

That being said, it sits nice IMO, and engine is at a pleasing angle.

I imagine that the owner of the lavendar T doesn't care for the ones we like either, that is why he built what he did, sorry if I said something that offends you, I was simply expressing my opinion of it, afterall this is the USA where we have to right to do so. No, I would not go up to him and tell him face to face that I don't like it, unless he asked what I thought of it, but I will tell you that it isn't what I like.

I dunno, think about it this way: If you have to follow a bunch of rules in order to build a non-ugly (in certain people's opinion) T, then we might as well be restoring them. Why do I have to build something to meet your preferences? Style is all about personal expression and different people have different expressions. There are extremes, to be sure, but saying "that isn't what I like" is much better than some of the other comments made.

I came across this while surfing, I really have to get back out to the garage :D
I think it's probably best described as a  Rat Rod, however in some ways it struck me as being kind of cute.
Almost like a little bucket with a lift up lid :)

I found myself wondering what I could do with it, a different power plant and then start painting and plating all the bits and pieces. :D

I know, I know get back out to the garage :)

    Wild treatment on those bones.

  26. Well, I'm so NOT a rat rod guy, but I gotta admit, that thing has some possibilities! Hope the roof goes up further than than, cause if not, I think my dragster may be easier to get in and out of! Personally, I think I would have hinged it from the back, but I'd bet they did it that way because the header area was a)straight, and b) significantly stronger than the back.

And with it hinged in the front, if the latches fail, it won't get caught in the wind and make a hell of a mess of the body works. As rat rod as it is, there is something about it, that I feel drawn to, kind of like part of it.

  29. Well I can see it becoming a very nice car with a little make over. It could do with a V6 maybe and as mentioned, paint, chrome and some detailing to lift it out of the " Rat Rod " imagine. I like it for it's simply appearance of not being a belly*****on type car.

There is something about that car that rocks my boat! If I could fit it to my frame, and de-rat it, I would run it all the time!

There is something about that roof line, despite the bad welds.

But it looks like a sedan cowl and window frame, a rear half of touring/phaeton without doors, with a three-window roof with door tops moulded to the roof.

Love them bones, but don't care much for the boat tank, and other ad-ons that only serves as an wow effect. And if you spend that much time building it, why don't paint it. He could go brush paint, if he is broke.

I see why the hinged it in front, but the could have run it like a canopy, line on a WWII fighter plane.
    That would be cool.

And if it could have run a hood, over any hot 4 banger, in a lake style/track t look.
That would make me all hot and bothered!
