Any of you in B.C. know of a hot rod friendly mechanic to do my mechanical? I'm in Princeton, any one within two hours of me would be good, I'm growing tired of arguing with the fool I'm using, he doesn't understand that his job is to tick off the appropriate boxes on the inspection form, seems to think his opinion is what matters. Not looking to cheat, just need a guy who isn't scared to do a modified vehicle and who understands what is required by law and not what he'd like to see.
I fight with this idiot about fender placement and tire coverage, told him we don't actually have a fender law here, its a mudguard law, semi's run around with no fenders, but no....a hot rod is different he says, (got cycle fenders on front axle), bumper has to be a certain length, made from a certain material, he's not sure about the windshield or whether the chop is legal, (2 1/2 inches), he's got a big head. I've had enough.

I'm not in Canada and can't help with this. But because I'm sympathetic to your plight, I,m giving this a bump back to the top.

On edit: It also might help with response here if you put Canada in the ***le of your post.

  3. I feel your pain, I always go around and around with them guys myself and things are pretty loose here.

I can't help you but if it makes you feel any better I had to braze up a pin hole in my little brothers rear pipe on his bike once because the inspection guy said he could get carbon monoxide poisoning from it.

  8. I used to do vehicle inspections here in Saskatchewan. If I were you, I would get a copy of the vehicle standards act so you have a really good understanding of what's expected and what's not (this may only help you in the event you get pulled over and questioned about anything in which case you can show an officer the copy and point out what is allowed and what isn't) . I don't know if having a copy will help you at all for getting an inspection done however as the technician may interpret legislation in a different way than you.
As an example, I was always under the understanding here that an antique or modified vintage vehicle required a hood, yet nowhere in the standard act does it say it's a requirement. we are pretty lucky here in Sk though in comparison to alot of other places. Good luck.

Man I guess we're spoiled around here. I hate inspections but there is about 6 places within a mile of my house. What's up with Canada?
