Bought the truck at twelve with my own money and worked every summer to buy parts with a little help from mom and dad. Now the truck is currently on the back burner until summer because I'm stuck on the opposite side of the country at college. There is still a ton of time I'm young

Thanks 2many projects. Tried to get as low as possible without bags but keep it realistic to still drive it.

Great looking truck! Your story reminds me of getting started as well when I was young. But, I like your truck better than the car I had at 12. Best part of the whole deal to this day was the time spent with my dad. Planning to do the same with my two boys soon. Keep up the good work!

    DG,

Nice job so far. Please allow me to make some observations (about F-1's in general; not your specific F-1).

    1. should you choose to eliminate the behind the seat gas tank: F-1 panel truck gas tanks fit between the left frame rail and the driveshaft; nearly a bolt-in for F-1 pickups.

    2. rectangular gauges from early 70's ford pickups can be fitted into your stock gauge cluster and look original. The later gauges use a printed circuit but you can mount the gauges into a piece of plexi (or any other non-conducting material) using the two studs that the wires go to and then mount the plexi behind the stock panel.

    3. worn out cowl vent gaskets allow you to wash your feet for free when driving in the rain.

    4. pie-cut hoods look great on F-1's. There are some here on the board, but I don't have any pix.

  6. Great look'in truck, to be proud of, and welcome to the HAMB, a lot of good guys here.

Atch i moved the gas tank to behind the rear axle. We just need to raise it some and im trying to figure out where to put the filler neck without going through the bottom of the metal bed or put some cheesy flap on the back fender

Dont worry that truck isnt goin anywhere. This is one that will never be for sale due to the sentimental value i got in it.

Nice truck you are doing a great job. I'm building the same truck right down to the y block and triple deuce carbs. What size wheels and tires are you using?

  12. Great job, nice looking truck. I've had a least one F-1 at any given time, since I was 14 (67 now).
My current one has been a long term, on again, off again project.
It's drivable but not quite road worthy.
    Good Luck!

Great looking truck, great stance. I really like the Y-block in the F-1, not a combination you see much. If you keep the engine compartment looking that uncluttered, it will be great visual.

That is a great looking truck.

When I was in my 20's and 20's I seemed to have plenty of time and little money and now in my 60's I seem to have little of either. Work schedule limits my time and bills limit my cash. One makes the best of what he has to work with.

You made me a fan. Drive them low, not dropping the air out just for the parking lot and lawn chair corrals.

Great looking pick-up. Wish I would have built something that nice when I was your age. Keep it up.

  16. Looks good. When I first got my truck at 17 I had lots of time and no money. Now I'm 35 with a wife and 2 kids, still have no money, but now I have no time either.. Check out my build below..

Your truck is such a cool project...Really like the looks of it!----I think a lot of us have had a 'slow' time of getting our cars up to parr over the years!...I know I did, with all the learning process and repairs more than once, and the searching around for deals on parts, takes time...and family matters in proper priorities. It took me almost 20 years to get my first 1940 Ford pickup looking the way I wanted it to....but, the time involved gives a 'depth' that becomes a real part of owning it....great job thus far....I think it's gonna be real cool;)

Damn FINE lookin truck! I really like you went with a Ford Y block makes it that much cooler to me! As everyone has stated time and money are always hard to have at one time. So when you have a little money gather a few parts. When ya get some time you'll have a couple parts to throw at your truck. Sounds easier than it is though!

Nice job on the truck, A little lower than I'd have it, but I love the Y-Block. Keep up the good work.

    Looks great! Keep at it.

Sadly, for a lot of us it becomes time, money and health (energy) when you get older. You never seem to have all 3 .

Great truck. I too love that you used a Y block.

I learned a long time ago that there is no such thing as spare time or extra money.

DGuidotti's Dad here, just wanted to thank all of our fellow Hot Rodders out there for the complements and encouraging words. Blessed to have a son and daughter who enjoy old cars with their old Dad and have the work ethic to work on them

Sweet Dad! You have plenty to be proud of for sure!

  28. Great looking truck my friend!
One way or another-every build is about time and money-not necessarily in that order
It's okay to hold your work to a standard-The truck has 'the look'
As said before-patience is a virtue-Truck will be a killer when you get it done

  29. ...here's an idea that mite work on your gas tank filler, depending on what tank you used. ..this is on my 47 Chev p.u. using a 70 Nova tank.
...got a 48 Ford p.u. with a Mustang tank but it fills thru the bed floor which I don't care for but I've gotten used to it.
