While cleaning out my carb stash, I found a pair of Strombergs that have 97 tops and bases, but are using a 48 center section. They came off of a intake set I picked up at Hershey years ago.

I know the 48 flows more CFM than the 97, but is this a good idea or match up?

As far as I know the only differences between 97s and 48s is the center section and the choke detent mechanism.

Well, I do know the venturi on a 48 are slightly bigger. Fractionally, but still bigger.

.97 to 1 1/32, actually a significant increase in area.

I run two 48 on a fairly mild flattie. They are flawless. The BS about 48's being too big is just that! If a mild AB can handle them at all throttle positions a really good piece would say: Zet all ya got? IMG_0787 2.jpg
