  5. I was just teasing you! I play with Google Maps all the time as well. Have you toured Yellowstone National Park on it yet (probably some of the otherd as well, but Yellowstone is the only one I'm sure of), you can actually street view out into the attractions (walkways over the springs, etc.). It's pretty cool.

I just finished reading this thread today...I'll have to say I've learned more than a few things about T's in general and buckets as a whole...I'm most impressed with the amount of knowledge gathered on these pages...keep it up...a very enjoyable read...dudley

  8. Yeah, I knew that mate, I have spend quite some time cruising your United States of America and it still amazes me of the size of the place. My very first time was when I followed along with the Rolling Bones crew out of New York when they went to Bonnerville for Speed week and just fell in love with the open spaces and roads where cruising at 90 to 100 mph was just so fine. I then have followed Bass in his A Coupe on the trip he did up to Portland I think from memory. Hemi powered with open exhaust, oh yeah, hot rodders**********s....

Mark...I`ve always got a spare seat from my place to Speed Week every year, maybe that would give you a taste of the Open Spaces.....I`m going to try to put my place in on the Google Map thing so you can see where I am......Jeremy--that goes for you too...

Tried the Map thing, but I think I confused it by putting my Address in about 3 times. Glen, I tried mate....No T info today? Jeremy.......Brilliant. Look for me in Inspection. Did I send you my Cell?

By the way, the truck is a Four Door, so two would still work....:D:D

FalconGeorge might be coming down for the Swap Meet as well. If he has nowhere to stay, then I`m sure we can arrange something....Maybe you could come up, Gary. By the way, that last pic of your T by the gate is a really good one.....:)

  14. Hey Paul, thanks for the kind offer, now if you private message your actual street address, I can then fly direct down to your place. And I won't be stalking you either as I will ring the door bell.:D

I have a nice, short video of driving in Gary DeFer's T Roadster pickup - but I cant figure out how to post it. (It's a you tube link but it seems all the file uploads only deal with images (I'm SURE that can't be right) Paul

Now don't get me wrong I just want to clarify something. I remember reading (on the Hamb) a thread that stated racers wouldn't be seen dead with wire wheels on their cars on the salt or sand of the dry lakes post war or it may have been later in the 50's(I'm not sure what time period). But the recent thread on post war lakesters and modifieds (http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...they-were-pre-ww2.149631/page-8#post-10864280)
8 out of 10 cars all had wire wheels. Where am I going wrong here , can someone enlighten me:confused:

I have just informed the moderators about our trouble posting pictures or your video. Hope they can work it out.
Has anyone else had trouble posting a photo until you "post reply" then go into edit and it posts every time.

The thread you linked is PRE-WWII when wire wheels were still very common. Disc wheels with the appropriate bolt pattern and heritage appeared first on 1940 Fords and were still brand new when WWII commenced. There was very, very little racing during the war.

It is POST-WWII when disc wheels replaced wires almost totally. Wires were still seen when larger 17" or 18" tires were desirable to alter the gear ratio for speed runs but most racers wanted the safety that the newer disc wheels provided.

Don Montgomery's books are a historical gold mine for hot rodders and should be required reading for us all. Don was both a journalist and a racer during the formative years of hot rodding and has made a lifelong task of gathering and publishing information (with LOTS of pictures) on our roots. Most are still in print and available on Amazon.

  20. Actually, Gary, I have just the opposite problem posting from my Kindle. If I forget to attach a pic to the original post, I can't attach it at all. It won't allow me to attach a pic to an edit. I have to start another post.

When you go to "edit" then do you go to "more options"? That's what you have to do to get "upload file" to come up again.

Okay guys going off the topic again. Sorry Chip.
My wife wants us to come up in the motorhome for the Portland swap. Give me some info. Where would be best to park the motorhome etc.

Thanks Jalopy that explains about all.

  29. I think so, but I'll have to pay attention next time. I get all the way to having selected the picture to attach, but the "this forum"*****on doesn't show up on an edit.

  30. Wow that is a cool video of Gary's T Roadster and heck, it is nice to actually hear it too. It appears to ride very smooth too with the front end not wanting to leap about or jump up or down so Gary, you have build a very nice car.
I came across this photo of a T Roadster today on another site and wondered if it was Tommy Ivo's but the colour puts me off so not sure. 150123-hot-rods-04.jpg
