I really like this shot. There's a neighborhood here in Long Beach with homes designed by Cliff May called "The Ranchos" very cool mid century homes similar to the one in the pic. This is a recent pic...

Fun facts to know and tell:
The only civilian casualty on American soil of WWII happened right here in Oregon. According to the History Channel’s History.com: In Lakeview, Oregon, Mrs. Elsie Mitchell and five neighborhood children are killed while attempting to drag a Japanese balloon out the woods. Unbeknownst to Mitchell and the children, the balloon was armed, and it exploded soon after they began tampering with it.

I bet "Mrs. Elsie Mitchell and five neighborhood children" didn't think it fun to be killed in such a way.

    regards,Rod.

Wow!! I recognized this shot the second I saw it.
Up until a year and a half ago I lived just a half a block down on the left, just before you get to Columbia Park (Where you can see all the thick trees up the street on the left.) Still looks the same today except where the sign on the left says Pure Foods is now an Auto Zone.

  15. No doubt that is true, I had never heard that before, so thought I'd share. Maybe change it to interesting fact (we used to say fun facts in my family when you found something you didn't know - my intent was not to offend).

Definately didn't offend me - just an observation was all.

Ray Soff is known as the "East Coast Rod & Cutom Historian" and for good reason.
This guy can look at an old custom car and tell you how many owners it has had over the years and also all the different color it has been painted.

Talking to Ray is like getting a history listen on the history of custom cars.
I call him and we can talk for hours about where many of these cars are today and he tells me where they are located.
Seeing the photo of the chopped convertible either late 40's or early 50's Ford made me think of one Ray has in his garage that look just like the one in the photo except the color is different.

For anyone wondering about the history of their old custom Ray is the man to call.

Ray also writes stories for " Kustoms Illustrated Magazine"
