I pulled a tail light bulb on my recently purchased 55 Fairlane.

I dont know the history of the car, but with the new engine transplant it has (newer v8 and trans than original) it does look like it was converted to 12v as well.

The number on the existing tail light bulb is 11034, would that be the same as a 1034? The markings on the bulb are "11034 China 5B", that is all.

Maybe the guy in China stutters when he marks the bulbs!

If my memory is correct isn't 1034 a single filament bulb w/ one contact on the base ? The tail light should be a 1157 double filament bulb for 12 volt w/2 contacts at the base. With the bulb out look inside your bulb socket and see if it has 2 contacts .

  4. My '55 is changed to 12V and uses 1157 bulbs for both taillight/stop/turn and parking/turn lights.

That is why i am confused .... dual filament bulb, two contacts in base, off set pins, and the only number on it is a 11034.

I have done some research and this is what I found- Choose the bulb that suits your needs. Use a 1034 if you use your signal lights often. If you do a lot of night time driving and use your tail lamps more often use the 1157 bulb . they both can be used one was designed with a heaver filament for more of one or the other use. Both are 12 volt dual filament bulbs
