Thanks Whip the front of my roadster moves pretty well (isn't it fun watching it work) however the rear T spring doesn't move much. Don't let pds90s (Paul my littleol winemaker friend) camera fool you it has great anti shake protection. It was a beautiful day for February even for here. Whenever I take Paul someplace in one of my old cars he finds a way to repay me. Sometimes a bottle of his GOOD wine, this time the video.
And that is Ivo's T above, colors don't come through well in some photos. If you are going by the color it is painted now Ivo told me the restorer got it wrong. When he saw it for the first time he told the guy it was wrong but "I wouldn't change it if it were me" because Von Dutch (who had striped originally and after the restoration) had just died and the striping on the car might have been the last he ever did. The color on his roadster was reported to be a Buick color but but Ivo said it was a special mix that was lighter than the Buick color.

  2. That is cool to know about the colour and paint shop on the T Gary, thanks. I am impressed with that photo of it and I noted how the radiator surround is slightly lower then the cowl in that shot. Certainly is a icon of the T Roadster world.

It really is amazing how close Ivo got to Grabowski.s T with his copy. Even the height of the grill compared to the firewall when so many later didn't and the look of their buckets suffered.
Guys I've more than once made reference to Ivo telling me stuff. I don't want to give the impression I know him well. The only time I talked to him was the evening he invited my friend Ted and I to his house after Ted had called and asked if he would put his signature on my dash while we were down there. We did talk for a couple of hours and Ivo is such an open and unguarded person that our conversation covered so much and I really learned a lot about him.

Chip!! Are you there? Hope there is progress on something at your end. I am thrashing on the 36 Plymouth Coupe that I have in the shop to get it ready to go to paint. And I leave Tuesday....

Hope all goes well with the visit with your mom. Looks like all us Northwestener's will be getting together April for the Portland swap. Looking forward to it and maybe some shop tours. I'll be looking for an early '50s Cadillac starter. I've about given up on the one from the '48 moor door. Works great on the bench but won't turn over an engine.

    Paul,
Hope you're able to get your stuff done before your trip home. Safe travels!

    Gary,
It will be great to have you up in the PNW. I'm filling out the form for my swap meet space now, mainly because I kind of forgot to earlier. Thanks for the reminder! As far as shop tours go, Paul gave me a pretty cool tour, so bug him about that! He's got a great fab shop with some neat projects, too! Most of my friends are into late model stuff, and I'm working out of a 1 car garage in the back of some ghetto apt complex, but if you really wanted so see that, you'd be more than welcome to.

Also, Gary, you might try Old Car Parts (503-771-9416) for that Cad starter. They specialize in GM parts from the '30s-'70s, and I've had great luck with them. You should ask for Joe Jr, but anyone who picks up the phone should be able to help. They usually have a booth at the swap meet, so if they did indeed have one, they could probably meet you there with it.

You guys have really got me thinking about Portland. Havent been in a looong time. Dunno if the budget can handle it though, I'll have to run it by the President and see what she has to say.

    Brad,
I've only been going for about 8 or 9 years, but it is HUGE. Make sure you bring good walking shoes and rain gear! Although we've had excellent weather lately...probably holding off the flood gates until 5 mins after the swap meet opens...

Haha. The last time down was about 15 years ago, but I remember the walking. And walking. And if memory serves, I think then it was sunny and 70 for a day or 2 and downpour and 45 for the rest. Great fun, the only thing I like better than a big swap meet is a HUGE swap meet.

Tim maybe you Paul and I can get together some evening and check out his shop. I'll be kinda stranded up there except for the swap as I din't have a tow vehicle. I'm going to have to get some rain gear and rubber boots I figured it would be a good chance of April showers. Wish you could send some down this way. We are still in a drought situation here.

I thought you guys might be interested in a couple of T buckets that were at the street meet here in Kerikeri yesterday.

There was another one but it seems I didn't get a shot of it.

Not too impressed with the buckets but the two leggy chicks behind the black one sure impresses me.

Agreed. Oh, by the way, the builder of the black one is American. It seems most Kiwis don't do T buckets that well... at least not in my eyes. Probably one of the best kiwi buckets that springs to mind right now is the Piaggi/Pavlovich one. A quick search shows me that it has been mentioned elsewhere on this site...

As as far as the "leggy chicks" are concerned, I just knew someone would mention that.

Yeah, very nice. The thing is, the "leggy chicks" were everywhere yesterday. I had to wait for ages for them to get out of the way so I could take photos of the cars. o_O

Shit it's already Sunday there it's about 2:30 pm here still Saturday and still winter. Really winter on the east coast. Not bad here on the west coast though.

  25. Well I'm very impressed with the black T and absolutely love the wire wheels. The steering box set up looks closely like how mine is done too. Is it based up North Glen ? It is a more modern era type car compared to mine as I have " that Rake look " in mine so my engine doesn't have to be so high in the chassis.
Another very nice Bucket in NZ which was build by Mike Roberts and was powered by the 348 Chevy out of his '59 SS Chevy which he removed when he sold the car is this one. Well, this is embarrassing, I keep getting the message that the site can't upload the photo and that is after I have resized it, oh bother.....:mad::eek::oops:o_O

The black one has some nice lines to it., are the padded roll bars required in NZ or just a trend?

Whip now that you have posted go to edit then more options and see if you can post it. A lot of times when I can't post a photo that works.

  29. Well, I'll be damned, it worked that time, Mike's old car is the bottom one now powered by a either a 396 or 454 Chevy, can't remember. The other car was from Aussie brought over for the drags a couple of years ago and yes,Gary, the grille and radiator are far to high for it, but it is owned by an Australian. ;););)
