Just booked in yesterday at the Dells for the May 16-17 Automotion show this year.....first time attending. Anyone else going may want to find a place to stay fast.. Most everything is full already.. I finally found a Two Star Motel.. no problem as that is my style ! Anyone else going ?
I live 20 miles away. Haven't gone to it for a few years. Heard that it has lots of tuner cars now. Last time I went the cops aren't very helpful in getting the car show traffic into the show. Lots of cars overheating waiting to get in. Even though it is close to me, I won't go.
There is always a bunch of Camaros, Mustangs, etc. You have to walk by 30+ cars before you see anything resembling a HAMB friendly car. I always say I'm not going. But, occasionally get talked into it by my bro. No plans to attend, but that doesn't mean I won't be there.
Interesting... I have never gone, but wanting to make more shows this year, so saw it an booked in....only a couple of hours from me.. Thanks for the comments..wondered why there didn't seem to be much interest shown here..
glad to hear you guys enjoy that show cause durinmg the hrpt this yr the place was a giant cluster you know what
Attended once. After about an hour, really felt out of place. Left. never been back. They say "Over 1100 vehicles attend" 1000 are not HAMB friendly type ....
i attend two years ago with the blown chrysler coupe. the show is only part of the fun. we rode up there with another couple. theres nothing like going for a ride with your bride getting a weekend away. we all went out to eat at good restraints at night. we went to the drive in outside town on saturday to take in a movie. we walked the strip both nights and watched the cars cruising around. being a open show there is a little of everything. i like a lot of non jamb friendly cars so I'm ok with the show. we all had a good time.
I went a few years ago in my Model A coupe. It was fun and as racer-x stated there is a lot to do in the Dells. If your car is prone to overheating you may be pulling into a parking lot to cool down as traffic sits at a standstill. If I have time that weekend I may try and make it. Hdonlybob, if you're looking for another show that is near you, June 6 in Madison the Hot Rod Power Tour begins at the Aliant Energy Center. There is a car show there that day to kick off the tour. You don't have to be part of the tour to enter your car in the show for the day.
Hey Bob.Ten years ago it was a nice smaller get together. The last 4 or five years it's been all about the muscle cars and street machines doing burnouts at night. I went three years ago and got there at 7:30 AM and after two hours in line I was turned away for a lack of space to park. I was told to pre register and get there earlier. I did that the next year and had fuel pump trouble and had to get towed back home, Maybe it's just not meant to be for me. If you want a nice friendly 400 car show, get to Spring Green late August, GREAT day on the downtown streets.
Sounds like it will be interesting...and appreciate all the comments and information... I did pre register, and also don't mind the earlier (real) muscle cars... My "Two Star" motel is located on the south end of the strip, so if it get's to be too much for me I can just sit and smoke my ceegars while sippin' some Korbel Brandy...maybe even take a dip in the pool...(if it has water in it)
