Baron, The bars are not removable, the strips of fiberglass are that are put back in place to make the lid complete again are. Hard to see in the picture but there are 2 lines where the chrome latch are. Once that section is out the lid opens and closes. jp
Thanks for posting the Wildabeast pictures, for some reason I am not able to open them. The only picture that I have of the Wildabeast is the one that I posted on page 26 of this thread. It looks like it might be candy but I am not so sure anymore.
That makes more sense now. I'm getting close to the point of welding my bar in, and have thought about doing something similar. Thanks.
That is our plan. I get my yearly bonus check in a few weeks. It is earmarked for new exhaust, braided brake lines at the calipers, new tires, and hopefully there will be enough to recover the convertible top. I have been acquiring some of the other stuff I need already
Don Curtis shared that it was Chuck Forchee's Corvette. It was destroyed in a wreck at Beeline in probably 1973
Jason in the first pic it appears that is Sam Cunningham's 61 Vette (red roadster with the scoop just behind Hayseed). I have not seem many pics of the car although it was a pretty decent running Corvette. He took class (DM/SP) at Indy in 1967. Not sure on the 337 ci 56/57 Vette behind Cunningham. Gianino had his red 57 (and took class CM/SP) there but not sure on the lettering he used and if he had his top on that year. Would have to do some digging. Midwest had their black 57 there but had problems with the car and ended up pulling the engine and putting it in Kanners car that was heavily modified but labeled as a 57 Vette and went on to win class (AM/SP) and Street Eliminator. Some great running Vettes there in 67. Great pics thanks. Jim

Jim, I am not able to open the picture but I believe that The Mongoose belonged to Pete Ahrends and ran a 426 hemi !
JP I am not a fan either but to each their own I suppose. Sorry Jason. Not sure what is happening to my pics that you cannot open them. I am doing it the same way I have for years so not sure what is going on. I sent you the pic by email. I have heard it had a hemi (there were a couple of early Vettes that made that decision).Jim
Thanks Jim, I think it is this Android phone. I am not a big fan of the rear wheel wells either but it is interesting to look at. It was just a race car at that time and all he cared about was winning. Could you imagine if that car showed up at a Corvette event today. Here is another one that went with a Hemi. I think it ran a 392

The white car is from Washington and is super nice and the other is from Portland and also is very nice and a really nice guy. jp
