    Scott-

I hope the family is doing better, my thoughts are with you.

One of your buddies (to be kept nameless) called me and shared the content of a recent phone call that I had to share with the group....it went something like this...

Scott - hey man, I really screwed up challenging the Okie Doker to a match race... What did I do?

Other person - yeah Scott, why did you do that? You should have challenged someone you can beat like Furious or the Zettle Brothers....not smart man. What are you doing to get ready?

Scott- well, I am going to finally deal with my rust issue

Other person - are you retarded? You are bringing a plastic knife to a gun fight.

Scott- well, Ric says I should put a tunnel ram on my car and that will make it a second faster...

Other person - well, that is a start...what else?

Scott- I can talk shit better than anyone, so I am just gonna say anything I can think of...like how he can't get out of the 12's

Other person - I like that one, but you have gotten out of the 12's, right?

Scott- well, I actually have never been in the 12's,... But who cares, it sounds good. He has an automatic so I will pick on that.

Other person - good call, but are you a good stick driver? Someone said you struggle to get your linkage set up right...didn't AJ have to tow you last year beacause of linkage issues? Don't you turn on your directional when shifting?

Scott- God damn, I can't think of anything....

Other person- well, I would just try to make your car a little faster and then ask Marc Pannteon to drive it.

Scott- good idea, I am just going to shut my word hole and try and prove it at the track.

I love you guys. Not in the beer commercial sorta way,but in the honest, sincere, really appreciating your kind words and prayers sorta way. That really means a lot to me.

Last night we had to rush my Wife to the hospital because something was clearly wrong with her and the baby. After 4 hours, they couldn't really tell us what had gone on,only that they didn't see any cause for further alarm, and that we should go home and get some rest.
It was possibly the scariest night of my life so far.In my younger years I once replied to a pistol stuck in my face with "Fuck You",without flinching, but let me tell you boys, that was nothing Compared to how scared I was last night.

Anyway,Mama and Baby are doing well,so I am attempting to get back to my "normal",smart-ass,shit-slingin' self,so thanks very, very much to Ric,Big Jim,Kip,Norb,James, and anybody else who may have had us in their prayers last night.Even you Jeff,ya big ape!;)Love you Brother! (To the casual observer of this thread it would seem that Jeffro and I hate each other, but it couldn't be farther from the truth.I would walk through fire for that big galute.Him,Koop,Kip,Paul,AJ,and all the rest of the Meltdown crew treated us so well last year, that their kindness will never be forgotten.I would help any one of those men hide a body.lol!)

    Thanks again for everything guys.

    Scott

    Oh,and Jeff:

The conversation would have gone more like this:

    Me:
Feck.....I dunno how the hell Im gonna find time to get this car together in time for the Meltdown! While I was moving the springs inboard a couple inches with that Crites kit I hit a bunch of rust that needs to be repaired before I can move ahead, and its pretty overwhelming.Working nights is NOT going to help this...

    Imaginary Other Guy:
Ah,don't worry about it man, you're a rockstar. You'll have that shit sliced outta there, new metal fabbed up and welded in,and the car better than new in no time.

    Me:
Yeah,I hope so.....weather hasn't been cooperating though,so I haven't been out working on it like I should.-20 is no fun for building cars.

    Imaginary Other Guy:
Aren't you worried that Jeff's car ran 12.30's with a 3.42 gear?I hear he's swapped them out for some 4.56's....

    Me:
Nope......Im going from 3.70's to 4.56's as well.

    Imaginary Other Guy:
But Jeff has a tunnel ram!

    Me:
    Me too.

    Imaginary Other Guy:
But I think Jeff's motor is a 383,not a 327 like he's claiming.I also heard he swapped out the 12.30 heads for a REALLY nice set of AFR's,and he has more cam in it now......it should be an easy 11.50 car now...on a bad day.

    Me:
My cam has lobes the size Paul Bunyan's guitar pick, and my heads will work juuuuust fine.(Thank you Ric and Bryce for the hookup on an incredibly affordable, very good quality set of heads).

    Imaginary Other Guy:
But you're running a 289,and he's got you covered with lots more displacement!

    Me:
Meh.....Whatever.It comes in at 311 inches with the offset ground crank, and I'm pretty sure that with my higher rpms, higher compression, and bigger induction/exhaust setup, plus the smaller, lighter car,I will be very competitive.

In the end,I guess it's kinda lucky that you have that absolutely gorgeous paint job on the Hokey Poker,Jeff.

That way,all the nice people in the stands will have something pretty to watch drive down the track for a few seconds after I cross the stripe!;)

    Scott xoxo

No I don't blame you Scott. I figure it comes from a guy frustrated that his brother never lets him win a race.

    Lmao!!!

Do you remember that conversation we had Sunday last year?
Pictures of your car ALL OVER the Internet were what convinced me I should letter up my car.....Then I found Art's "Grape",then the Meltdown, and here we are.:)

I think in the interest of etiquette I will have to pedal it a bit though....just enough to keep a fender length out on ol Jeffro, instead of car lengths.....;)

Can't wait to see the Zettle Bros car Makin passes, and shoot the shit with you guys again!

    Whatever happened to the Falcon,anyway...?

The Ford dealer ships are making a ton of on repairs. They always will make money:D

When Jay bought his Falcon (Just Falcon Around) it came with a matching white trailer.
    Ford emblems and all.
Told Jay all Fords should come that way:)

Can't wait to see the mustang again. The Falcon will be there this year in running condition. I'd watch out for Jeff though Scott. He might talk Eric into tuning the car for him so he can win some races.

    That's looking great Man!

Looking forward to seeing the car run this year, and getting to say hello....Last year things were so hectic I didn't get to say hey to even half the folks I wanted to catch up with.
This year is gonna be different. Not bringing any parts to the swap meet (that will save a complete day),and found the defective aftermarket crap that was causing the clutch linkage issues that plagued me half the weekend.(Another full day freed up).

Plus,we're staying on site this year,so the after-sundown shenanigans should be memorable:)

Working on the car right now while Mama rests up and watches a couple movies with the kids....

Here is the kind of mess I find myself in this morning:

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1425837606.615982.jpg

That,my friends,is an inner wheelhousing with part of the trunk hinge bracket still attached, and part of the back seat structure still attached.
"Gee Scotty, why the eff is it in a 45 gallon drum,on fire, behind your Dad's shop?" You may find yourself asking.....?

Good question Men.The answer is this:

IF I EVEEEEEER FIND THE DIRTY RAT BASTARD HAMFISTED HACK SONOFABITCH THAT DECIDED TO FIX RUSTED INNER WHEELHOUSINGS BY SMASHING ANOTHER ONE INSIDE WITH A BIG HAMMER AND FIBERGLASSING THE WHOLE MESS TOGETHER WITH 99 LBS OF MAT,RESIN,AND POP RIVETS (apparently the universal auto repair tool of complete, gaping dickholes),I WILL BE FORCED TO GUT HIM LIKE A FISH FOR THE ATROCITIES HE HAS COMMITTED ON THIS POOR,INNOCENT CAR.

    Aaaaaaah.......Thats better!:D

Anyhoo, I got all that shit cut out on the passenger side, threw it in the burn barrel with a liberal dousing of 92 octane I drained outta the car,and set that bitch on fire!
(the old guys use that trick to remove lots of bondo from dented bike tanks.)

Here are couple shots of the new view into/out of the Ol Shaker:

    Hey Norb!
I packed it in for the day about 20 minutes ago,but I have a plan now.
The stock inner wheel housing is about 2-1/2" away from the rear fram rail for no good reason that I can see,so I just split it,cut that excess flat spacer piece off the back, and now I'm prepping to weld it pack in,with a filler strip between the two pieces.

    The problems are:
1: The whole mess was cobbled together with rivets, brazing rod,and fiberglass.
2:What's left of the stock inner wheelhouse is pretty thin and messed up in spots.
3:The original frame rail is pretty fragile metal that pretty much explodes on impact when you try to run a bead, stitch,or even burn a tiny tack in.

    The solutions are:
1:Grind fiberglass away as req'd (Sooooooooooooooo iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitchyyyyyyyyyyyy.....!!!)
2:Call NPD for a couple replacement inner wheel housing sections
3:Get my buddys at the local steel shop to cut out some pieces to template I will make,to use as backing strips to weld up the frame/floor/wheel housings. Its gotta be strong, and its gotta be right.

Once I have the wheel wells squared away, then Im going to trim the lip of the quarter panels a bit, pull the axle in 2" per side, and get those 8-1/2" slicks fitting and centered up like they should have been years ago.

This whole mess is just because it bugged me that the tires rubbed a bit.lol!

    Scott
