Technical I just may have screwed up

  1. A 4.10 ratio axle is what many jap imports with OD have.

  2. Yea well the shock towers may pose a problem but I am sure that between us we can figure it out. Now if we could just get one of those old cammers out of Pinks shop. :D

Back to the OPs original question. Most of the opinions here are just that. The one thing that 31Vicky and Beaner said that makes the most sense is that the 235 won't pull a load at very low rpm. The modern day engines can get away with the very low cruising rpm because the fuel curve and valve events are computer controlled. I'm not suggesting that you computerize your car, just pointing out the difference.
I've mentioned on here several times that I have an OT shop truck over 5000# with a 2.42 gear in the quick change. It cruises and accelerates fine (not a drag racer, though). BUT (notice the BIG BUT), it has a 454 stock big block. The low rpm torque makes all the difference.
I think all of us would be surprised at a real test drive with that set-up. It might not be as terrible as you might expect.

  4. That might be hard-
But you can easily get a fooler :)

Which set up is "THAT" setup you are referring to?

  6. Phttttt :p the cammer in gimpy's round bird silly. Come on try an keep up here. :D :D

  7. I'm trying to figure it the set up of "that set up" is a 235 t5 2.57 or a 454 with 2.42 gear.

Haha I'm so far behind I think I'm first

So not to change subjects on everyone, but does anyone know where I can find a CAD file for a 235?
I forgot to mention the plan for the 235 is a twin turbo setup. I got a friend that has two turbos out of a 2L TDI he is going to give me. And before you all start I know

You might consider an Explorer 8.8 rear- In my area they are reasonable in cost, come with a variety
of gears, most are locking, and are virtually a 12 bolt rear in design.

Your right you screwed up.....I wished I could say I never screw up... well I could say it but no one is going to believe it.....Craigslist Item now, come on guys lets make him feel better and post your screw ups

  17. What's a 442 who makes that? Just curious.

2 liters is about 122 and change cubic inches right? The twin turbos are for a turbo diesel? They may spool too fast and over spin on your235. Just talking off the top of my head here I am sure that you have already done the research on it.

Too much bandwidth, and at what age do we want to start with the confession?

  18. Lmao,
Twin turbo 235 go boom !

  19. Its actually a 265 we are all just dyslexic. o_O:rolleyes::D

    You got that right.
Hey Dreamin, make sure you upload some video of the first run. Better yet, start a build thread and keep us posted as you go.

Well it should be interesting, I plan to keep the boost low. The primary focus of the setup will be fuel atomization. I have a couple strombergs sitting here and will be welding my own aluminum intake. Should be starting design this month and maybe finished by the end of this year. I will get a post going as soon as I start.

  22. Not all of us beaner,
And I wouldn't kid you, its been 235 I6 from the first post. You're the first to mention 265. But what's 30 cubes amongst friends :)

  23. :D :D :D I don't think its been that long ago that someone was going to build themselves a 500 HP ( maybe it was 6 or 700) 235. I may try to build a *350 HP 265, but I have been known to over estimate horse power.

I hate to admit this but when I forst read the thread I did think is said 265 and I was impressed, funny how so many people will jump all over a wheezer 235 and would not even consider the venerable 265 the little V-8 that changed the world. ;) Damnit now I want one. :(

*I think that 300+ ponies from a 265 may be possible if you have a name like Smokey or Tex, with a name like beaner what would you really expect.
