My ex wife just got more stupid with every day. Mispronunciation/misspelling of simple words, and the 'logic'! Unbelievable.
I only wish I would have recorded some of the gibberish that came out of that idiot's mouth. "The cook's a 'cheft'. Coat's in the 'closent'. Women should act 'Feminum'.
    Men like 'vuh-zhynas'."
We had some friends over one night, and they had some 'smoke'...Ex wife told a long story, (she was serious) the two guys and their wives were seriously begging her to shut up, they laughed 'til they vomited.
Took her to a swap meet, (Watsonville, 1975) and she commenced to tell a guy with a flathead 4 jugger (NIB!) when I showed him "all the cash I had" that I had a couple of hundred in my other pocket. (the guy laughed, and sold me the gem for $20!!!)
It was a glad day when I 'traded her in' on the NEW model! Whew!

Mike51Merc....first off I am not an attorney....but common sense dictates that audio taping someone in PUBLIC cannot be a crime. Why? No expectation of privacy. Otherwise any video taken in public while your on vacation etc...would be illegal. Does that make any sense? In a private setting...yes...like a meeting...in an office...etc.
Who knows...like someone else said....everything is illegal today..
Please......let's get back to goofy comments...

Depends on what your idea of public means. If someone starts yelling on a street corner, then there is no expectation of privacy. If two people have a simple normal conversation while walking down the street (or looking under the hood of a car), there is.

    Yes, back to goofy please.

I'm going to get this thread back to talking about goofy things people have said. One time at a car show, one of the guys in my club was looking at a 32 that had a SBC with Hemi Valve covers on it, much like the photo below.

    !B9+Wu)!CGk~$(KGrHqF,!lUEy+jC05(mBM7(B5ZoYg~~_3.jpg

(No offense, but this has got to be one of the more dumb things you can put on a Small Block in my opinion. It's up there with Olds valve covers)

He said "Dang it's got a Hemi in it!" I said "No man it's a Small Block." He replied, in a kinda douchey tone, with "No it's a Hemi. You can tell by the valve covers." I said " No. It's a Small Block. You can tell by the fact that it's a Small Block with fake Hemi heads bolted on it!"

The faux Hemi covers, while pretending to be something they aren't, do the job of keeping dirt out and oil in. Just like the faux bias tires, they look like bias but are actually radials, keep the car rolling and driving, just not what they appear to be, neither are of interest to me

I'm with the comments here about helping others learn what cars or parts are or aren't. The name calling of folks who aren't as into these old rides or know as much as us just gets to me whether it's to their face or not. As mentioned earlier, we can't ALL be experts on everything.

To help get this back on tract,,,
All (ok most) of you guys (generic term for the lawyes) have 'normal' vehicles, imagine driving a 1950 Chevy Ute, in the US and even in Southern California.
    Is that a Studibaker?
    Is that a Flower Car?
What did you use to make it? With this one, we got tired of trying to convince some car people, at Pomona Swap, it was stock and told one guy "Yea, I cut up a sedan for the front, a wagon for the interior bed pieces and a sedan delivery for the bed sides and the tail gate."
And finally, why is the stearing on wheel on the wrong side? It's not the wrong side it's the right side.

  9. When I had my (avatar) '32 pickup for sale for $3500, an expert walked up and told me it was worth twice that much. I suggested he scoop it up and double his money, but he declined.

Well, some years ago a non-tech friend bought an old one cylinder motorcycle and it had a knock goin on in the engine at idle, and my friend says, -Well it sure cant be the piston making that noice, cause it stands still at idle.... Made me laugh the whole day ☺

  14. Pete,
That's rough dude. Wish I had said it. :D

Probably best I didn't I got to go to a club meeting in Berdoo in June and I will be going right past Mikes place on my way, don't need my ass whupped that bad. :D :D

Actually some fake and some not. his dad didn't have a problem or much of one (the show has been around and in the family since 1949 believe it or not) by the later '60s they were actually asking the people that got burned to sign a release form those that didn't, didn't get on TV.

its the same with Cops, there were some lawsuits and they had to start getting a release form from the alleged criminals prior to showing on TV.

So goofy stuff how about one from a "real" car person.

It had really high gears in it a 4.11 but I wanted a lower gear so I put a 3.08 in it.

  15. I'm at car show ten years ago with my o.t. 1971 Chevelle. 2 young boys pedal up to it on their bikes and are admiring it.
I'm chuckling to myself as one of the kids is leaning in the driver's window and pointing to the middle of the Chevy's dashboard saying to his little pal..."Hey, I've heard of those things but never seen one".
Other kid .... "What is that?"
#1 kid...."I think that thing is an 8 track."
Now you gotta relize, these kids were born around 1987- 1990 maybe. I was born in 1946!
I'm thankful I could educate them a little that summer afternoon.

I have the unique advantage of being able to sit in an office next to a showroom full of old cars, so here are some of my favorites...
"Is this model A stock or a race car?" (It's a speedster with a hand-formed body)
"Can I have this one?" (For 10k, sure!)
"Oh WOW! It's a Rambler!" (My favorite)

  19. I was waiting to make a left turn in my 53 Chevrolet with my signal on.
I heard the sound of a brake lock up behind me and braced for impact, the girl got stop just short of my rear bumper!
Then yelled "Your third brake light doesn't work!"

Always get the husband that tells his wife,"this is a Cadillac" because my 36 3 window has sombreros on it.
Another favorite with shaved door handles is "how do you get in it?" then when you tell them it has hidden buttons, they want to know where?

"What is a kid like you doing driving something like that?"

To which I answer one of the following:
"I'm too dumb to fix new cars!"
    "It's all I could afford."
"I don't drive it, I just look at it." (when at a gas station)
"Well, I don't really feel safe in a front wheel drive car."
    "Just gettin' my rocks off!"
"Trying to pick up your grand-daughter."
"What kind of motorcycle is that? Looks like an HPV 1000."

    That's a beauty, I'll take a '57 Pontiac over a '57 Chevy anyday.
