    This photo was taken at the 2nd drag races ever put on at Caddo Mills, 1951. The Calvert's were from Denton Texas and they built many engines for North Texas racers in the 50's. I am not sure how they came up with this body combination but no doubt it had a good motor in it.

  7. Thanks for the photo of the Calverts from Denton running at Caddo Mills,Karl..I might add they are still building engines for racers to this very day.Wayne is up in his 80s

    Here are some shots originally taken by Norm Grudem at Pomona, in the early to mid-50s'. They were also posted on Byron Stack's "Gasser Madness" site, but I cannot find them on the new version following Bryon's passing. But they turned up on George Klass's site, so here are a few...not sure of all the IDs:

    This is what a competition coupe looked like in '56. Chrysler powered, Leroy Newmayer was one of the best drivers at the time...later would go on to sprint cars
