Anyone know a guy named Vinje Dahl? There is a small photo of a modified that he owned in the July '04 issue of R&C. The body is a cut-down '29 Nash, and it has a quick change rear end powered by a Chevy inline six. I was wondering if anybody had some more photos of it. Thx., K6.

My buddy here in town Dutch Eschelman built that car about ten years ago. There is an article in one of the Rod&Custom little pages that came a few years ago the features that car, but if I can remember too, next time I'm out there I'll see if I can get some picture from his collection. Oh, and he is working on another Modified as we speak.

Thanks, I'd like to get a better look at how this Nash is set up. I hear 100" as a recommended wheelbase, which is fairly easy with a 4 cyl or V8. With an inline 6, it seems you either have a longer hood and wheelbase, or you shove the back of the engine under the cowl and loose floor board room to keep the wheelbase short. K6

    louvers,

while we're mentioning dutch, maybe you could get us some pix of the 23-25 turtle deck T roadster he built when he lived back here in the midwest. the one with the red ram hemi. when it was in gray primer. he took me for a ride around davenport one year when they were racing antique race cars at the mississippi river valley fairgrounds and i've wanted one ever since.

when i grow up i want to be him.

Recently posted on the Facebook. posted on some Hardcore Hotrods group.

"I offer this shot of my late friend, Rudolph Axford, at the age of 16, sitting behind the wheel of his Model A roadster in 1942. There was a thriving prewar roadster scene in East Los Angeles back then. The body came off a 1930 Ford open topped stake and the frame was a Z'd pickup unit. Gas tank came from a 1920s Packard. These guys were four cylinder nutz and distrusted anything with flathead V8s and hydraulic brakes..!!! Cool guys had OHV conversions.. This one was mildly tuned and had a lightened flywheel..."

This looks like Mickey Himsl's car, which was originally a Fad T, and he keeps revamping it, getting more '40s era looking....except the vertical column!

Pushed all these parts together about a year and a half ago. Then through it all in a pile until a few months ago. Have made some great progress on it. I'll try to get some current photos up soon. '29 Pontiac cowl, 27 T Phaeton, Buick 248 ST8 with big Buick 3spd., Ford torque tube and rear, '32 front axle, Model A frame.

Heres mine under construction. Its startin to wear me down, I bet I have 100hrs in each header. The engine is in the machine shop, a 354 coupled to a '38 toploader going thru a late 40's banjo, I've settled on guide 682 headlights after trying many others, wide5 wheels & buick drums - won't ever try that combo again.
I hope to drive it this summer. I hope.
