Who wants to join the HAMB '35/'36 club?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Coupe-De-CAB, Nov 24, 2007.

  1. ^^^ This is a glass car correct? If so, what company makes the body?

Looks great as all your stuff does!

I'm going to build a glass car of some kind next go round.

  2. Yep Ron it's a Pat Mooney body, built like a battleship. Only 12 were ever made. All the front is steel/ It's available. How ya doin on the Deuce?

  3. Almost done. Gonna run it in primer and call it done. I'm through with beating on these old rusty field bodies. I'll build a glass car before I ever think of doing that again.

I somehow missed this thread... my loss! I'll have to catch up and maybe post pic or two of my 1936 treasures from over the years. Many thanks to those that have posted.

image.jpg Can I play as well?.....this is a UK 1937 ford four door sedan that I'm slowly turning into a two door convertible using cut down USA 36 coupe rear quarters. In my defence the entire rear of the car was rotten

I'd love to be in but I need someone to find me a LaSalle coupe first. ;)

  9. Thought that I had posted this, but guess not.
Ran across this mongrel last summer, and had to bring it home.
Built in '59 by some kids in NC, with SBC, 3 spd with floor shifter, and Mopar rear on parallel leafs. Hydraulic brakes with 39 pedals. Backyard engineering, at best, on most of the install, especially the rearend.
They blew the engine in 64, and it was parked in a barn, where my buddy found it, as witnessed by the last NC inspection sticker.
Had a really cool blue and white r&p interior and white running boards at one time, but only the seats are saveable.

  11. Pat Mooney's Specialty Automotive produced more like 60 roadster bodies. This is according to Mike Milano, his mold setup and fab person at the company back when. The molds and jigs made their way to the 'Fairlane Company', and now they are at a shop in the SE region who has rehab'ed them for a new production.

Well, I've gone through the whole thread and have enjoyed all the toys and stories.
I'll start with the ones I have today.
The cabriolet I bought a bit over a year ago with GT40 heads on a 302, C4, Heidts, Vintage Air, power steering and brakes. DSC02667 (2).JPG
    Rear license car.JPG

Now the 4 door convertible sedan; one of about 200 left in the world. It, too, has a 302 Ford, C4, Heidts coilover front, CE rear, vintage air.

And of course my 1936 Ford Super Deluxe pickup: 350/350 in a Fatman frame.
    DSC02802.JPG
    DSC02799.JPG

Now a few from the past: Hydraulic brakes with a built 2 carb 1936 Ford engine---it would scoot!
    36cabrGNfrt.JPG 36cabrGNrf.JPG
A project that left the country before I got it running. I did some bodywork and installed an engine and trans and found a top for it.
    DSC02345.JPG
Then there were the three windows:
The last I had was this chopped 3w with a louvered hood and a louvered trunk. 350/350

    More later.
Hope these will at least get me a temporary membership!

Here's the 3w that was 302 Ford powered with c4.
    MVC-021S.JPG
    MVC-009S.JPG
I had another chopped 3w, my first, but I'll have to hunt for a picture. It was built in the 50s and had the trunk leaded shut! Put a Nova front clip on it and replaced the 4 speed and corvette rear with a 350 automatic(behind the existing SBC) and a CE kit using an early Nova rearend.
There was also a 5w that I bought to get the steel fenders...MOST expensive price I've paid for steel fenders! 350/350, too, as I recall. Had to do some roadworthy updates to that before I passed it along... with fiberglass fenders! Couldn't find a better pic. Here it is in transition! You can see the chopped 3w in the garage waiting for the steel fenders. I think all the fenders were out being painted at the time.
    365Wmod2.JPG
Now for a pic of my original stock 36 convertible sedan that I still had when I bought the black convertible sedan that had already been updated.
    Conv4dr-TH.jpg
Oh yeah, there was the stock 36 cabriolet I bought one Sunday morning in York:
    MVC-004S.JPG
    MVC-006S.JPG
That was a sweet running ford and still had the mechanical brakes... and they worked great!!

Here's a few of my wife and granddaughter in the stock 4 dr convertible sedan. We've had allot of fun in every one of our old Fords. My granddaughter is now 15! Man, time flies!

I think I've covered most of them.
    All the best,
    Al

Thanks for the kind words about my old Fords. That chopped 3w was a pleasure to own. I did a fair amount of work to the car besides changing to steel fenders. I installed a working rear window that rolled down... that baby was HOT! before that update! I also converted the trunk from a rumble seat and added a drain pan to keep things dry in the trunk; thanks to a great deal of help from Famous Jack of jacksanddeuces fame.
At one time I had a chrome grille in it and fitted 40 chev headlights to it as well. That car would idle so slow that I could roll along beside someone that was walking and not need to hit the brake! York2006a.jpg
