If you run a tube axle with a 4 link and a transverse leaf, do you require shocks? The only reason I ask is I have come across this axle and 4 link set up but there isn't any place to mount shocks, just the mount for the leaf and a panhard

  2. Shouldn't be much of a deal to fab up some kind of bolt on shock brackets. I wouldn't run without them.

  3. That looks like its set up for coil overs
    Not transverse leaf.

    that was my other thought.

  5. So, ignore the pic & that axle - and your questions answer is. - yes you need front shocks up front with 4 bar and Trans leaf spring.

Now add that pic into the mix and you won't be using a transverse leaf with that axle anyway. You be using coil overs and then the shocks are included on the deal.

  8. Yep, no way you'll be using a Trans leaf spring there.

  9. Guess you don't need them if you want to drive a pogo stick. LOL

If the price was right I would get it and make provisions for shocks once I had it. Like Vicky says yes you need shocks.

  11. I actually have experience with a giant gas powered pogo stick. it wasn't a car though.

All vehicles require shock absorbers, on all four corners, period.

Anyone who might tell you otherwise is either ignorant of their function, or trying to kill you, or both.

Chevs from the twenties had no shocks. They put one spring leaf in upside down to create lots of friction in the spring. This prevented too much bounciness.

So it could be done but why would you want to? Unless it was a show car where ride and handling didn't matter and you wanted a clean look.
