What's in that thing for power ?? What ch***is is under it? It would be nice to see some shots of the build if you have any.

  2. In this case, I don't understand why you would want to use gelcoat, gelcoat is just resin with no fiber in it, which is not the easiest to sand and does nothing for strength!
BTW, those are nice wiiiiddddeeee fenders.

  3. Ok, i just wasnt sure on the process.
Im going to try and finish the gl*** work this weekend then the filler work can begin. I had the bodywork guy come by yesterday, hopefully get that all done shortly, get it painted and start the ***embly

  4. I am running a sbc/700r4 combo. My original plan was a deisel but the one i had lined up to buy became unavailable. And the only other one i could find was a ***mins which would of been great except it was too long and i didnt want to add an extra foot or so to the wheelbase. Its all about proportion☺
the engine is mounted in the box of the truck and sits really low so the wood decking can cover it. The bed floor will tilt to access the engine/air bag system etc.
the truck is built on a 99 chevy 2500 van ch***is

  5. The fender had to be widened by over 18" to fit over the dual 22" alcoa 10 lug wheels with 285/45/22 tires.
i had the wheels machined down from 22.5 to 22.125 to allow use of light truck tires.
the truck is 102" wide now, going to have to get used to The extra width while driving

  6. Can't wait to see it at BttF! It's a big place, do you have a favorite hang out area. I tend to park in the big lot where they have the swap meet on Sunday, then walk the whole fair grounds. I'll be easy to spot, I have a grey beard and will be wearing a car t-shirt! LOL

  7. haha, i think i saw you there before☺

  8. We usually move around a bit, we have a group that we hang with from time to time during the weekend, they set up right in from of that greek resturant under where the overhead chair lift thing goes over, if that makes any sense.

"the truck is built on a 99 chevy 2500 van ch***is"

What did you do about steering, I don't think those are r&p. I'm gonna guess the van box stands up fairly straight. I have a '99 GM 2500 truck ch***is. I wonder if the front ends are similar enough to use the van box ??

  10. its not rack and pinion, it has a steering box the is mounted with the splined shaft almost perfectly verticle. Couldnt have planned it any better☺.
i built a coe rolling ch***is for a guy a couple years ago, that one was on an 80's chevy half ton van. Those are unibody kinda, this time i wanted an actual frame. Plus the 8 stud 3/4 ton hubs made it easier to adapt up to the 10 lug semi wheels.

If I can swap the van steering box onto my truck frame it'll be the cat's ***!! Checked p/ns on Rockauto and the lower control arms are the same between the van and truck so I'm thinking the front frames are the same.

  12. Let me see what i have for pictures of the frame before the body went on. Give me a sec....

  13. I dont have any, i can take some pics soon for you, the kid has his truck up on the hoist right now, as soon as its off ill put the coe up and take some pics

I don't know what I was thinking in my previous post ... my truck is a '90 GMC 3500. The front end bears no resemblance to a '90 van. Back to the drawing board !!!

  16. In my opinion, which may not mean much but i have done this before, if you want to put a coe on an existing ch***is, the easiest wsy to go is a chevy van.
    just my $.02

  19. Ok, here's todays question...i bought a 15gal rci aluminum fuel tank that i intend to mount to the frame alongside the transmission. The tank has to be mounted a little forward from where i had planned to mount it because the 4 link mounts.
it ended up being very close to the exhaust manifold, maybe 4" away. I thought about making a insulated end to the mounting tray that i will make today. there is nowhere else i can mount this tank. Is there a minimum safe distance detween exhaust and fuel tanks?

  20. I went down to the garage i deal with for safety checks to put these on the road, this truck will need to be checked in order to put it on the road. They said it should be ok with a heat shield installed. Im going to insulate the end of the tray ☺

  22. Thanks i figured i was going to have to make one, just thought i might luck out and find one ☺

  23. Good morning, i thought i was going to be able to reuse the trico vacuum wipers that were originally in the truck, i took them apart, cleaned them up, they seemed to work but maybe not, **** it, i had better put something electric in there. Not having time to order anything, i got a wiper setup from my neighbour from a ford courier truck. With a little tweaking i made it fit.
Here is my question...there are 4 blue wires in the pigtail coming from the unit. I was able to test the motor using 2 of the wires but i would like to make a correct hook up of everything. Anybody got a wiring diagram from a 1973-82 ford courier truck?
