Do you plan to licence it as a truck or RV? First time MTO pulled me over with my '46 COE, the first question he asked was "Is this an RV"? I had mine licenced as a truck and had the annual inspection done too. MTO guy said my rear duals were too close together but didn't write me up because they weren't touching. I changed the rear tires and then got rid of the truck. Wasn't worth the h***le to me for the limited use I got out of it.

  2. Well it's not my truck so I am not entirely sure what the owners plan is- you had a yellow sticker on yours?

Yup! Lucky I just had it inspected the week before I got pulled over. The MTO guy asked for trip logs and daily inspection records but I just played dumb and he let me off with a tongue lashing.

  4. I believe this has a truck ***le- but-it has a 'blue' plate on it- not a black commercial plate- maybe he will fly under the radar that way

Well it's a beautiful truck. I wish him good luck and hope I get to see it some time. What town does he live in?

Gary N. Who did you insure your truck with? None of the cl***ic vehicle insures will insure if I pull a trailer. Can't find anyone who will insure a 51 truck with regular insurance in Ontario.

I have been with State Farm (now called Certas in Canada) for over forty years. Never had any issues with State Farm but I'm not sure what the new company will be like.

Yes I am also with State Farm and certas will not insure it. If it was a stock truck with original power plant and unmodified they would have given me regular insurance but because I'm modified have to use their collector insurance

  10. I don't know if any of you guys know of Ron Holland in TN who makes Repro Early Ford COE Grilles and Hood panels, I have just received a reply from his brother letting me know that Ron suffered a Cardiac Arrest on the 3rd March, they managed to bring him back but he is only just hanging in there, because of the time it took to get him back he has suffered some brain memory dysfunction so needless to say he will not be making anymore Grilles or Hood panels .
Lets hope he recovers as best as possible

That is a gmc, not sure on the model, I would guess military due to the 'cab' style. guys over at oldgmctrucks.com would probably know right off the bat. I think '39-40, the coes and big ones didn't follow the smaller or conventional trucks body style the exact same years, so I am probably off a couple years.
I'd like to see more pics

He had a hibernating issue with a computer. Seriously though how many Hot Rodded Trucks do we see now using the ***mins.

So we agree it is the Hot Rodders Diesel Engine of choice. :)

I was once told using any other Diesel engine other than a ***mins would be like telling a Harley Davidson owner he had to ride a Japanese made Motor Bike.
