    Chip,
I read your post to my mom and she was very impressed with your design input. We thank you!

Here is the tonneau cover finished as far as stitching goes. Now the fun part of getting it all stapled and glued down comes next. We used your binding - forgot the word you used- trick around the gas cap area. I'm pretty happy with the result. My mom put in quite a few hours on this thing. I think the rest of the upholstery will go quicker when the time comes.

Just trying to capture the depth of the pleats:

    1428396972254.jpg

Circle in center is the green vinyl inside out. Will roll over and staple to underside of the tonneau, which will give it the same green piping border as the pleats have.

    1428397016150.jpg

We had trouble with using the actual piping, so these green welts are hollow inside. Sounds like a personal problem, huh?

  8. Now Tim, where exactly did you say your Mum and Dad live, I need to post my Roadster up there when it is ready for trim, Upholstery for Chip,:p;). That looks simply amazing and I do like the green piping to give it some contrast. Chip or Tim's Mum will have to show us how the shifter boot was done as I'm still in awe of her handy work.

Kool shit Tim. Tell your mom that that's a compliment. Glad you chose white. It's my opinion whatever color seat upholstery is on a bucket the only color for a top and bed cover should be white. Especially with WWW tires. Back to the Kookie Kar. But "opinions are like A holes. Everybody has one."
See you this weekend "God willing and the creek don't rise." I'm not that religious I just like "old sayings." I think Paul is planning to pick me up at the racetrack motor home parking Thursday afternoon. Maybe you can join us for a ride around and we can "kick some tires."

I know that, and so does Chip. I just found it amusing in an ironical sort of way that he would mis-state a fraction while in the process of explaining a percentage. Higher mathematics isn't my long suit either...

I'm so ashamed  :D ;) Not really :D I have given up on the top kit I bought, and sold it to a colleague who is building a 31 roadster.
I've decided to haul my RPU to Rod Tops and have a pro built custom top and side curtains installed.
The 28-32 top bow kit I bought wasn't going to cut it and every time I look at what Rod Tops do I am really impressed.
So there you have it, when I say I won't do something later on I do it anyway :D :D

Hey, put them on photobucket, in a separated folder, and send me the link in a PM/conversation. [emoji41]

You know guys in my math what Chip said made perfect sense. Thanks again everyone for the info. I'm sure it will work for anyone putting one of those trannies behind any Chevy powered hot rod.

Brynk you will just have to wait until next week to see a picture of my new old truck next to one of my rods I'm busy getting ready to drive to Portland for the swap this weekend. And what you said about Photobucket might have just as well have been in your native language.

Not a problem, I can wait. [emoji41] A short period of time.

Okay, photobucket ain't hard to use, my mother thought me. And if it's an Ol' guy joke I don't get it!
If you can master the new HAMB you can learn the other stuff to!
Sorry if it sounds like a rant.

There is more then one way to learn it, ask your kids/grand kids (I don't know how old you are!), ask some else, or give it a go.

    Just saying.

So the next question is what color top ? I'm leaning towards black. My RPU will be a darker blue color.
I like white, but my interior is already black. I have seen a dark blue done with a complimentary blue top that also looked good.

Any of you guys know this: ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1428429107.728760.jpg

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/anyone-have-info-on-this-t-bucket.969863/

Look at the HAMB logo in the background [emoji2]

That tub, or man in the bucket rod is nice, the one royal shifter posted. I like it, but it sounds like I'm not alone on that one.[emoji39]

And Tim with a T, you do great work. And it looks good.
What is the plan with the whole in front/center for?
Is that a door panel, or a tonneau cover for the bucket? I be-a-u-ti-ful, insert that sound the wolf in cartoons make when a hot lady enters.
Don't look surprised, you know what I mean.

I think a cream , or pale yellow top with the dark blue would look awesome.

Evidently you didn't read my "Kool shit Tim" post above. White White White everything outside of the the cab. You could seven make the P.U. bed cover out of White top material. White will POP any color you paint the car.
Sorry Dick but Larry don't even think about blue.

I heard white loud and clear, :D However I'm just not a fan of white. Sorry Gary. Rod Tops standard colors are black or tan.
Any other color is a $250 extra cost. I'm still leaning towards black. :)
    They use Haartz stayfast material.

Sorry Gary, Ford had that color combo in the later 70s on the LTD and I thought it really popped, maybe it would be a bit too much street rod look, though.:(

Just wondering...what material was used for tops back in the 50's/60's?
Wouldn't have been leather (?) and I'm not sure when synthetic materials hit the scene.
    Some form of Canvas maybe?

That would be my concern as well, I'm sure it would look nice with a light blue top, but getting awful street-roddy. I'm in Gary's white top and tonneau camp.

Here's an idea! Shop around the local trim shops. Perhaps they've got some yardage on sale. Might not be exactly the color you want, but...
