Just got back from the hot rod nationals. Rained like crazy for first couple of days, however Sunday was great. Held in Newcastle NSW, couple of hours from Sydney. Only have a few photos on my phone but will post some more from the camera tomorrow night. Any body else feel free to post your photos from aussie nats on this thread. Hot dam some cool cars show us more please. Though the wheel police need to tap a few on the shoulder and remind them what is correct.

That yellow 34 coupe looks like it's right out of the parking lot of my high school days.
Wish it was in my garage today.....

  12. Have the Deni cruising nationals in a few weeks. (17th to 19th)
Driving events at this event, love hearing old engines driven in anger :)
I'm flat out currently getting my 1958 caravan ready to stay a few days there.

I will hijack this thread instead of starting another one. I drove down from Brisbane, stayed at Port Macquarie on Wednesday night and arrived Thursday. Weather looked great especially since I had left the heaviest rain in Brisbane and then had clear skies after the Brunswick Heads exit right through to Port Macquarie.
Looked good at the venue on Thursday and most of Friday. A few showers when we went out to Lost in the50's Museum(see photos later). After an afternoon drinking session I left the car at the track(with security) overnight.
Saturday morning the skies opened up and it rained all day. Over 2 inches(50mm) dumped over Saturday. I didn't even bother going out on Saturday it was so miserable.
Sunday it started to clear and the cars came out and so did the public to check it all out. Turned out to be a great day with sunshine and a great atmosphere. I actually liked the layout with the cars around the track which they had to do as the grassed inside area was too wet.
Well here are the pictures. About 3 more lots and then the ones at the private Museum. The first one is the aftermath of the Friday drinks session.

Last lot of cars and then the Museum. The red 32 on the trailer was the ASRF Raffle car that waswon by someone from Queensland I think.

Now the Museum. This is a private collection of cars and memorabilia owned by a successful businessman who runs security services for the major entertainers who come to Australia. He sells a few cars now and then and from what we were told a lot of his collection are cars with less than 10,000 miles on them.
Photos 2,3 and 4 are not his cars. They were other entrants visiting the museum.

You Aussies sure build some awesome cars , but a few stand out for the wrong reasons. Directional billet rims on a car with a semi traditional paint scheme , these rims belong on a toyota corolla. Just because the rims are cheap or what ever doesn't mean they belong.
On the whole I think the Aussies may be finally getting the build to a period theme as there are lots and lots of truly great cars in this thread. I don't mean to a traditional theme either , just what ever floats your boat but please don't mix periods. Just a mere handful of " what the heck were they thinking examples". Must get back to enjoy another Aussie event .
