  2. Ah...the days when you could keep a S/S Hemi 'Cuda in your driveway. Do you think it doubled as their third car?

Found these on "throwback Thursday" photos by Andrew Wolf...some look like they were taken at the '61 Bakersfield Smoker's meet...I was spectating, think Dean Lowe was there too:

M&S in blue, it was silver at the '60 meet...

Remember Butch Blair's "Fugowie!" dragsters (one a used Joe Amato car)...this was an earlier "Fugowie" effort, notice how the doors are front-hinged...

Willie before the wing, note early Howard chain blower drive...

Blown Vette, sponsored by Geraghty Automotive, also at Bakersfield

Dode? The first Martin and Nelson dragster in a string of winning cars...the Master's Dragliner, has either been restored or, my guess, recreated...the frame, highly modified, was originally a Model T...

    rear.jpg
I don't know whose rear-engined modified roadster this was, I vaguely remember it, think it had a fin at the end of the headrest fairing and was Pontiac powered...anyone else

(sorry for the multiple postings, I couldn't get the cursor to the bottom of these photos without hitting the "post reply" button!!)

  14. Yep, I was there. Larry had replaced Ron as the driver not too long before this. Gene's Ranchero has not yet been painted to match the coupe. I asked Gene why they never painted Larry's name over the door after they removed Ron's name. He said by then they were too busy match racing, and Larry never gave a shit.

The Gatt Brothers Aborigine in the far lane, Pirotta and Caruana to the right. Both were early Holdens and Y block Ford powered at the time and ran A/G. The Pirotta car later got a small block Ford with Tecalamit Jackson injection and then that motor went into the now SOHC Ford powered Cortina that was posted here a while back. Photo is from Castlereagh strip, Sydney Australia and is probably from around 1967/8.

    Thanks for the photos.
    Is this a steel car?
What did they use for a chassis?
I would love to do something like this with my car but have not had much luck finding chassis pictures.
