I put this up years ago, just stumbled on the pictures again. I put them on Fordbarn too but not much interest over there. This was probably 12 years or so ago and the owner was mid 80s. The car was then in central Texas and hadn't raced in a couple years because he couldn't find a driver he liked. Maybe some of you remember it from nostalgia drags. It's a Gemsa head 32 engine. Anyone seen it in the last few years?
His spare engine. A cool part of the story was that he got one of the heads right from Joe Gemsa and he was keeping it under his bed.
Never seen the car. it cool enough for me. Just outa meaness I gotta ask, does the clock go that far? I would like to see it run for real.
That engine is just pure mechanical porn! Probably not the fastest FED but surely a cool vehicle to show off a banger in.
I like the cam cover driven Mag on the spare motor and the dizzy on the one in the car!!! Great Banger porn!!!
Back in 1960 Vic King ran 107 mph and change and was also the national champ in his class with his banger powered rail 'Midnite Oil'. At the Antique Nationals '72 Lee Miller ran 126 on gas with his Cook head and Oz Dunphy ran 123 with his Gemsa, both running in the 11.00s. All three were members of the 4 ever 4 club and all ran the 1/4 mile.
