Hey whip no offense taken. If you can't take some kidding and downright criticism I feel your on the wrong thread. And it looks like some have gotten off the thread. Not sure why but if it was something I said I'm truly sorry.

You know Jeremy I thought they were pretty good prices too. Especially the rust prime tub. The windshield was almost worth that price.

Ain't that right. The price would be the same around here, but there'd be no windshield, and you'd be able to read the newspaper through most of the body panels.

Waited on Kiwi Tinbender aka Paul to return so we could go look at some of his sheetmetal but he never returned. Not his fault tho, he's not a mainlander :) Did wind up buying this 17 roadster and frame and sold the ugly frame that made the body almost free. , [IMG]

Would probably have sold for a more realistic price like $13 K

Glad you got that. Paul didn't like it because it was early. He likes the 23-25s better. That really wasn't a bad body for $400 and if you got a couple of three for the frame that I didn't think was as ugly as you did you came out great on the deal.
Bolted my tow bar to the stepsides front bumper today (things used to be easier) and gave the guy the $200. Got a receipt for the money that said it had been abandoned in his yard for 8 or more years.
    HAMB friendly pictures soon.

  12. Jeremy,

Yeah, they probably just stole the picture the same time they were stealing the design, huh?

  13. This is mostly off topic, but too ironic / funny not to share! Been at Goodguys all weekend, answers my usual M.O. is to go in a little late, paek wherever, and not see my car again till it's over or I need a coke program water refill! So yesterday I park between the buildings vendors row, and walk away for like four hours. In what twisted, alternate realoty do I walk back and find last years A.M.B.R. winner parkes next to my POS? Son of a b.......!!!!! (We need a shaking head emocon for this post). At least someone had the decency to park a turd DD on the other side!

Wound up paying $300 for it and got $200 for the frame, now I'll have to drag everything out to the driveway to see what I have. It was light and fit on the canopy for the trip home., [IMG]

Hmmm...$13K for the bucket and $20K for the uber-ugly-way-snazzy-camp-party trailer.

The bucket had plenty of problems, had all kinds of steering problems, toe'd out so it could steer around corners and stop swerving at every bump? and fenders that didn't follow the tire curves., [IMG]

And both front and rear fenders were equally wrong. At least they were consistently fucked up! Not to mention the mounting brackets are also crap. Those things are not major, so it could be improved a lot, without spending major bucks

It's funny it looks so Good, and by that I mean finish and painted, but it also looks like the guy doesn't have room in his shop to pull a lawn chair up, and sit looking at it with a beer. The Visual inspection.

And neither does it look like he had time to do a mock up, VI, and test drive in the rough before he blew it apart for paint. It got all the right parts, all the wrong do-da and a bad case if wheels killing the look. Fenders dos not help.

But to be fair to the guy, he did NOT build it to impress a HAMBer.

Where were you when this guy was putting this car together, volvobrynk? You put your thumb on exactly the problem: not enough beer time. Ya can't just order parts from a catalog and screw 'em together to get a pleasing hot rod. As you say, you've got to stand back 20 or thirty feet once in a while and look at what you're building with a critical eye. You've also got to have the intestinal fortitude to admit that you've made a mistake - when it happens - and be willing to go back and change it for the better. Chip's term 'de-uglifying" captures it perfectly. Great post, volvobrynk!

Hey, Gary.....My fault for not making it back to your Swap Space. I ran into a few people I knew, and had to organise some things concerning a few upcoming jobs. I had hoped to see you before I left, and get you that tour of the shop and drag those panels out. Sorry about that. Still trying to make up ground after my month away, but I am going along O.K....

  25. One of my buddies works the show. I texted him that picture and said "I know this is your doing! I don't know how, bit NO WAY does AMBR "accidentally" parks next to my POS! For what it's worth, he does already have a door(?) ding in it.....had to happen sooner of later, I guess (and NO! I didn't put it there!) . :D

Its funny, I looked at the cars, and at first I wondered: What belongs to Blownfuel? It wasent until I opent it on my laptop, that I could see your avatar, that it dawned on me.
Mostly because I dont see a POS, I se a real hot rod! I had no trouble seing your cars wasnt AMBR material, but to me the biggst issue with you rod aint that its not show winner, its the roof that holds you back in a AMBR competititon :D:eek::rolleyes:
I like it a lot, is that Tony Nancy piss yellow?:D:p

  27. Brynk,

You have NO idea how close I came to having "Is that PISS Yellow" pinstriped on the lower right corner of the trunk! I don't believe my cars a POS, it's a driver, and has done years of daily driver status, just like Chip's! But damn, it just ain't right to put an AMBR right next to it! Kinda made me glad I didn't bother cleaning the bug guts off that morning! In all honesty, he might have intentionally parked there because he has North Dakota plates, and I have South Dakota plates......or it really could be coincidence.......but that's not nearly as funny!

that front end looks funny:eek:, what axle is that

  30. I think this maybe a example of the guy who purchased a finished Rod believing it to have been build correctly and once in ownership, realizes he has paid good money for a piece of rubbish. The car really needs to be stripped down to it's last nut and bolt and reconstructed which would mean it would be cheaper to build a totally new frame using a whole new front-end.
I too was impressed with the '26/27 T Tourer body and the price was excellent compared to what we would pay down here.
I was going to include the quote with the picture of that red T but forgot, so that is the car I am referring too.
