Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Dog_Patch, Aug 12, 2014.

  1. Tim got to my house about 10. I had 2 items off the list done, then Grumpy Ed and vegaracechick showed up. They started on the aluminum work and I jumped on the rear bumper.

    Ed looks tired already

About 2pm a whole gang of peeps showed up - 2 guys from Wisconsin 3 club brothers. Man stuff started falling off the list. We had to hire help to make the list off!

Greenmntnboy started making windows out of plexi - that's Nick from Wisconsin - supposed to be a perfect symmetry guy. Not sure what that means.

I was fooling with the front end stuff - looking for brackets - Tom says you're wasting time make em. I said ok let me get the plasma setup - he says let me show ya how to do this fast,

    Zip zip zip

    And that's off the list.

  2. Didn't get a ton of pics - working too much.

Josephus and Nick are arguing about symmetry on the rear deck pins ...:rolleyes:

Finally Tom calls it from the bottom.

  3. Got blurry after that - I'm old so when they left to go to Tudor's house at 9:40  I was done done and done.

Man that was humbling :) so much great help from good friends. You guys are the best  As always I owe you guys big time!

This firewall was a bitch! Tim and Ed have the patience of a saint. They took this in and out 20 times to trim it and fit it. A lot of effort to make it 1 piece instead of 3 like I was going to do :) - and use electrical tape

I think that a car should grow into its name.
But with all the late nights all the amazing support from your friends .
I think the Dodge may already have one "The Night Shift"
    Seems to fit.

  11. Sunday was another long thrash day. Got the floors in. Bolted on one side. Some artist was in my way most of the day until the late hours so we had to tippy toe around and listen to weird music. Whatever it takes man :)

Here is the bohemian setting up. Big A made the artwork. Big thanks Big A!

    overheadr.jpg
Hippie Shawn stopped by and we decided to see how hard roping in windows is. Found all the window rubber in the parts pile that came with the car. Greenmntboy made the small rear window and we cut the rest yesterday.

Got the drivers floor done and one seat bolted in.

Sometime late last night the artist formerly known as Cabbage went home.

If any of you clubmates owned passports my damn car could've been on the road 3 years ago!

No doubt about it Big A, they can work miracles. They came down here to my shop when I was in the short rows building BGII, and it was intended to be for squaring up the frt & rear axles to the chassis.
Before the day was finished BGII had made laps thru the hood surrounding my shop, albeit with a not so great hyd/mech lashup clutch release setup that I had done, not these guys.
    They are unreal!!!!!!!
I can't move fast enough to stay outta their way any more, so all I can do is try to help out when I can without hindering them!!!

  17. We needed you to work the punch list DOM! It was controlled chaos for sure - oh hell there's another good gasser name. o_O Russ get your brushes. Big A to the red phone !

Damn Tony!!!!!!!!!! I just spit a mouthful of Vodka, lime juice, and club soda all over my screen and keyboard on that "controlled chaos" moniker, LOL!!

  19. Damn, time to build another car. Hey, I've got a nice-ish '41 Ford coupe that would be a good candidate :D Hmm, I'd probably have to call that one Divorce #2

I wish I could find the word to tell y'all how much this means to me to see friends come together in the final hours like y'all have on this project. I know how burned out you can get in the last few days when you have already work long tireless hours for months. I have always said that the last 10% of any job is 90% of the effort, If I wasn't having the same problems with friends cars here at home you can bet that I would be there and spend a few days helping. Even if y'all don't make Greer you're all still my heros.

  25. Great posts Tony, hang with it man!!

  28. Thanks a bunch Quain! You have been invaluable just on the phone. Really appreciate all the knowledge you share freely. You are right about having good friends these guys and gals down here are keepers. I missed SoCal when I first moved to the South, but I have met the best people after I got out from behind the Orange Curtain :)

Tyler you need that thing - what is it ?

And ta think - the main reason for this build was to spank the beans out of Yesterday's Chili :D That's a long shot but worth shooting for.

Just a few shots from last night. Seats and belts, shift handle - all quick n dirty.
