  6. I hate to say it but the throttle was not connected that day. So after 9 months of working on this thing endlessly, I have crawled it in 1st gear idling exactly 50 feet before it ran out of gas :( Gonna make a pass in it Saturday at Greer though :)

Racer-X how did you crack that plate? Its damn thick!

It's May 1st, which means we are pretty much exactly 77 days away from the Meltdown! We are excited and wanted to share a quick preview of some of the cars you will see in 2015...we also put it to a song that reminds us of exactly why we put this event on...

We hope you enjoy it and you are as excited as we are!

I don't have all my stuff back from the machine shop yet.Block is still being machined, and rotating assembly is going out to be balanced shortly.
Here's a couple pics of the crank and rods though.

Those pistons are not the ones that will be used in the motor.Ric was kind enough to steer me away from the antiquated slugs I had been planning to use,and toward something a little more friendly to the production of hp.:)

Also, here is the new transmission. The Toploader got passed over for a number of reasons..

Yes,it's a Nash, and yes Jeff, you are in fact dead meat.;) lol

That is a nice looking Nash...you got 77 days for someone to teach you how to use it...

It sees way more street miles than track time,so I have zero interest in aluminum rods.
Short lifespan= pain in the ass when I have to tear a perfectly good motor apart to swap out aluminum rods that have reached the end of their service life long before the rest of the motor has.

Dude,I didn't just fall off the turnip wagon. The majority of guys who run aluminum rods in "street cars" are running massive amounts of nitrous, and the aluminum rods are supposed to absorb some of the battering that the bottom end would take with steel rods.
Let's not turn this into another top fuel nitro Hemi discussion, cause nitrous is against the rules at the Meltdown, and no amount of explaining or justifying is going to turn your opinions into my opinions.;)

Finally had the chance to work on the Okie Doker yesterday. Gave her a 100 pound diet and was able to make a few tests on some wide open country roads. Felt great to finally get it out.

  22. Did you take a door off? Do the other side for another 100 pounds. :)

Jeff hired a pro driver.I think the stack of phone books he will need to sit on will offset the 100lb weight advantage though... ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1430697517.580081.jpg
Plus, with the horse,it will probably end up weighing 200lbs MORE than when you started.....you may want to rethink your decision to go with a "hired gun" pro driver Jeff...;) lol

The car was first used as a tow vehicle for a dragster, so I just got rid of some stuff I don't need anymore. I need everything I can get to make sure I don't see mustang taillights.
