What line lock is recommended? where do I get one? Do you just wire them up to a toggle switch

  8. .., you put your right foot down, you pull your right foot up, you put your right arm up and you shake it all about, you do the Okie Dokie, and you burn your tires out, that what its all about, hey..,

  9. Hurst & B&M have them, and they come with easy instructions, or you can private message Racer X/The History Channel for the full tutorial.., make sure you pack a lunch on option B.

Yes, about 1965 hurst had one...I have the original article on them at home. When I get a chance I will post it....the new hurst ones have the same vintage switch that they originally had.

There was word that the Jegs ones are crap or that is what I read in one of the southeast gasser build theads.
I have hurst on both my cars because I don't make the horse power to do a burnout without one.

Hurst,B&M,I believe Biondo, and a few other manufacturers all sell a kit,and it requires putting a solenoid in-line with your front brakes,so that when you apply the front brakes, the hold the button, then release the pedal, the power to the solenoid holds pressure in the front brake lines only.
This allows you to do burnouts without cooking your rear brakes.

When you first use one (watch your r.p.m.s) once the tires break loose it is easy for
flywheel inertia to zing past rev limit.

Dropped a valve one time (broke the retainer) on a burn out. Thought I had my burn out
routine down that hot day, but when It got cool that night (about 4th round) the motor made
a lot more power zinged past my 8000 chip.

May have similar conditions this year when night racing.

    Just a dumb question
If one was to run a duel point dist with one point set would it make a difference witch ones one would leave out?

  16. Salty, if you need the other set of points, I'll send you the $6.27. ;)

  17. I thought the rolled sprag transmission bomb issue, was from doing high rpm burnouts, starting in low gear, and mainly with Torque Shites and over speeding a drum, or sprag etc.

  18. I'm pretty sure, the whole line loc thing, actually started out with Hursts, "Hill Holder"/"Roll Control" set up to help the hippies from burning up the clutches in their VW's, in the mean streets of San Francisco's hills.

Well Ric the ones I was looking at were $32.99 buttt what if one wanted to use said dist to trigger a 6AL box.
Ric I am simple minded so the less I have to fuck with the better I will be and the ones around me. I am not a violent person but one of my buddies always said he wanted to be around when I loose it.

I've still got points in my mill triggering the 6AL box- works great-points last forever since they don't have to handle much current-rick

One thing to remember is that the line loc, when engaged, only holds the same amount of break pressure as was being applied by the brake pedal when the line loc was set. In other words, setting the line loc doesn't automatically lock the front brakes. If you are only applying slight pressure to the pedal when the line loc is set, it will hold the same amount of pressure when you let off the pedal. This is useful when staging a stick car and your feet are busy with the clutch and accelerator. If you want the front brakes locked when you set the line loc, apply lots of pressure to the brake pedal or pump it a few times before hitting the line loc button.

If Marc's performance last year was any indication,he could be putting on a driving clinic this year!:)
