This or something like this should do the job. http://www.otctools.com/products/universal-hub-puller-tool-wrench You may have to make changes for the different lug/hub to axle dimensions, but I know these work well on normal tapered axles. A spacer, or adapter plate (which OTC also has), might be required. Mike
they are a real b****h to get apart.when the tapered rear axles were more popular Speedway Motors sold a great puller,one side right hand threads,turn it around and it had left hand threads[the puller threaded on the threads for the wing nuts] Trying to use a standard 3 jaw or bolt -on puller will sometimes distort or bend the flange where your drive pins go!best home made puller I've seen used a thick[1/2 inch min]round steel plate with a hole bored in the center the same size as the knock-off threads,the hole was tapered to match the angle on the wing nut.the plate was then drilled to match the large three leg puller,a wing nut would hold it on while pulling,that way pulling against the K-O threads and not the flange.[putting the hubs back on and getting the bolt to stay tight is a whole 'nother ritual]
P.S. have you discovered yet that you may have to get the outside of a socket machined down to remove the hub bolt?once you get the bolt out remove the thick washer that tightens against the hub[dont lose,hard to find]while you have the bolt out center-punch the head of the bolt[better yet counter sink it]so the shaft of the puller doesn't drift off to the side,you will be throwing the bolt away after pushing against it with the puller.DONT push directly against the end of the axle!!!!
Well folks.......We did it.....It seems funny to me that I had not ever come across a floater hub ***embly with a key......I do remember taking rear drums off by jacking the opposite side up and wacking nut with the trusty sledgehammer .......thanks to all that replied...if your interested in where this work is headed check on here at .........."1975 nance sprint/super.
