Not as much fun as you guys had.....I'm at home with some kind of flu or something.I was up til about 3:30am,then up again to let the dogs out at 5:30am...:(

That's not some kind of code,I actually had to let my dogs outside so they could pee. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1431780194.629796.jpg

That small weird looking dog is actually a cat.He doesn't get to go outside cause he acts suspicious.

Anyway, later this morning Im going out to finish off that nasty business with the rear wheel wells/frame rails/advanced oxidization/redoing somebody else's 30 yr old botched "repair work".
I'm sick as a dog,but we're at the one yard line with the crappy jobs,so why let a little thing like projectile vomiting slow me down now,right.....?[emoji2]

Now,was it just me,or was Jeff's account of the trip to the track suspiciously lacking in the ET department......?

Give up the goods,Brother! What kinda times did the old girl knock down....?

Scott I think it's kool you have your dad as a helper. Sure wish mine was still here to keep me in line. He was not a gear head but he had his masters in industrial education and me as a young kid wanted to tear into mechanical things and tell me to stop then he you find a book on the subject make me read it then give me a test when I passed he would let me have at it.

Sounds like your Dad was one sharp Cat James.
I bet some of your unusual talent for wringing every last bit of horsepower out of a machine comes from some of the stuff he drilled into your noggin way back when...

Now that,my friend, was an awesome reply!:)

I meant what are you two going to be driving, cause it will be easier for my dysfunctional brain to look for the guys in the 55 Chevy,or the 62 Catalina,or the Max Wedge Mopar....lol

Glad to hear you guys are working things out.The Meltdown brought my Dad and I closer together than we have ever been.

You and your Son are going to have the time of your lives at the Meltdown!:)

Logistics question...my son and i are flying into midway on friday from california (actually my son is coming in from Kadena AFB Okinawa) and expect to get to the track about 2p. We found a hotel and are staying till sunday. I was thinking of getting a cheap popup canopy and chairs that we'd toss when we leave. Is there still space to set up a canopy that late friday afternoon? I dont have to be on the track, just looking for a spot for our chairs and cooler.
    Thanks!

    Cktasto-

The west side of the track has a little hill and lots of people set up canopies to watch. You should be fine on Friday and As long as you set up early on Saturday u should be fine.

We live to hear u making the trip... You and your son will love it. Thank u for coming.

Old fuel system is out...new system is in. I won't get a chance to test it this weekend as I wasn't ready for the gorgeous day yesterday and now the monsoon season is upon us. I have to admit I was a bit nostalgic as I tore out the hard lines. That was a lot of trial and error and a steep learning curve back in the original build. Sure was fun.

My recent upgrades all seem to be based on boost referencing. Both carbs, regulator, boost control box and a gauge = a need for 5 ports out (+ 1 in) so I installed an aftermarket boost/vacuum distribution block. This cleaned up the plumbing a bit.

For a static test I put it to 6500 rpm and held it for 5 seconds. Fuel pressure was set at 7.5 lbs and never dipped below 6.5 during the test. Under load might be a different story but for now it looks promising. With the previous set up I had to set the pressure set at 9 lbs just to keep from dropping below 3 by mid track. I also had my brother watch the float level during the rpm test and it all looked .. well ... promising.

Once again - the goal here is to get the fuel pressure to stay at a safe level through the lights... and maybe pick up a tenth or so at the safer boost setting. This will let me turn up the wick a bit, just because I can. I am hoping for 10.30's locally and therefore closer to the Great Lake's Gasser 10.50 index for Meltdown. I would really like to score a point or two for the team this year. Yes there is a hope it will eventually run a 9 just so I can say it does, but I really don't want to go that fast. Max performance has never been the goal.

Next race date is May 30...

He probably won't be hard to find....He'll be the big galoot that's welcoming everyone to the event, and thanking every one of us as if we were Ronnie Sox or Don Nicholson rolling through the gate.:)
Jeff greeted us at the gate last year like we were celebrities, even though we had never met.He recognized the car,and knew how hard we worked to get there, and went out of his way to thank us and make us feel at home.:)

You guys are going to LOVE this event.:D

    Scott

Ps:Just cause he's a nice guy, doesn't mean he's not dead meat when the Shaker rolls up next to that Ol Chevy.....;)

Lookin good Davey!I know my clutch issues were kinda small potatoes compared to the fuel system stuff you guys were wrestlin' with last year.
Glad to see you got it all sorted out!:)

Hated showing up untested last year. The MDA preach to be ready and not use the event to sort stuff out - and I FULLY support that yet I was one of the violators when we had most everything rained out prior to Meltdown. This year I have refrained from making massive changes to the combination. Hopefully this year we'll come ready relaxed and in better spirits...

I'm hoping to have a few solid weekends leading up to the event to hit a couple of test n tune sessions, and put a bunch of street miles on it to work the bugs out as well Davey.
I don't wanna be that guy who brags about how fast the car is,then shows up with a tuning nightmare, with loose bolts and leaky fittings everywhere, all while running a string of 15.99's....lol!

It means he's got that thing runnin' like it got shot out of a cannon, that's what it means....

I've been predicting a full half-second drop in ET by going from those damn 3.42 gears to the 4.56's,and it's killing me to know what that thing ran the other night!

I have to think that car is capable of something in the 11.50-11.60 range once Jeff and Koop get some time in the Koopenheimers Laboratory for Evil Gasser Research.;)

    That's gonna be a battle!

I think we should call the race between the Okie Doker and the Lakeshore Shaker "The Bungle in the Jungle"
Jeff can't seem to get his line lock to un-lock,and I always think I'm racing a circle track car (refer to video evidence of my left turn signal activation from last year's defeat of what's-his-name).:)
