We were in the same boat last year. We had planned on a test and tune at Irwindale the Thursday before, but we ended up finishing up the small stuff the night we left, including chasing down a last minute ignition curve ball, which pushed our departure back from 11p Tuesday night to 3a Wednesday morning! So we showed up at Byron Thursday night with a new motor, new trans & clutch, new front brakes and a fair amount of front suspension and other chassis work done to the car and proceeded to chase oil leaks and more ignition issues all day Friday & Saturday! We were still having a blast and at least we didn't break anything or slow down the show in any way (except for taking a little longer to cover the 1/4 mile on Friday & Saturday than we had planned!) Sunday was the pay off when the oil leaks dried up, we were able to make the ignition work somewhat properly and the car started running some respectable numbers! Even got to go 3 rounds with the Sinister Stude!

Last year at the Meltdown my line-lock was "sticky"... But I got through it... On Friday night it was "stuck"... What a cluster... Thank god the Border Bandits were there to help us get the car off the track...

Eric's car was running great... For some reason the announcer at the track was calling it "Today's Child".... Hmmm

Typical May long weekend up here.
+17c and beautiful weather for the opening day at the track
Yesterday was 5c with heavy rain and 50 kph (30 mph) winds gusting to 90 kph (55 mph)
Today it's below 0 with gusting winds 32 - 50 kph and snow on the ground

Picture sent from the track this morning

I have a question for the tri-5 guys and fiberglass doors, these are VFN doors. I'm going to use the original hinges , are you guys bolting the hinges directly to the door? The guy I got these from had a spacer about 2" thick. Just wondering which way to go.
All else I have is installing a new 5pt harness and some small minor jobs, I picked up a racing jacket and new snell helmet so my safety stuff should all be covered.

On my 55 ford doors I made a aluminum plate to put inside the door and used panel bond and some rivets to hold it to the fiberglass. Then I bolted the hinge to that. I also am running a adjustable support from the top hinge area to the bottom rear corner so when the door starts to sag I can adjust it back up because being fiberglass it will move around for sure with some heat.

  19. Oh, I'm sure it will try to move around some... with all that heat ( power) up front... ;)

How can I 'unlike' this snow crap ? o_O You need to 'Like' it and then 'Unlike' but that's not right.

Ugh......I'm swilling NyQuil,DayQuil, any kind of quil,to try to beat this bug I've got,but most of the welding is done.My Dad is out there working on the last of it tonight, and since we both start night shift again tomorrow night,we're both staying up all night to get ourselves adjusted to it.
I'm gonna head out there around 10:00 and see what I can get to work on.Have to make up a new trans mount for the Nash,so maybe I'll start on that:)

(Rust Potty) :p for short lol

Is your Nash Transmission a 5 speed ?
What kind of shifter is used (like a pro-stock) ?
    Is top gear overdrive ?

It's an older Nash 5 spd I picked up.I grabbed it so that:
    a) My transmission isn't going to shit the bed when I dump the clutch with the new, less wheezy motor

b)So the 1:1 ratio 5th gear would allow me to keep my 3.70 gear for somewhat liveable trips to the track (both our local tracks are about 35-40min away, and I drive it there.)

c)Cause that ultra deep 3.50 first fear will spit this little car outta the hole like it's been fired out of a cannon.Small motor= Zero torque,so I need all the help I can get!:)

Essentially,I get to keep the highway driveability, get a deeper first gear than if I ran a 4.56 with the toploader, and get a bulletproof trans.

The shifter is a Long vertical gate,so you just push and pull back and forth, and can't miss a gear.

It's about time I stopped screwing around and just put parts in the thing that aren't going to be all tore up and needing replacement every time I take it to the track.

Here's a question for you? How long will I have to wait to wax my hood on 55' after painting it? The clear is PPG flex & flat clear... The other flat that's on the car has been waxed a few times, so it has a slightly different sheen to it... It's been almost a month since its been painted...
