  1. Now that would be a cool car to own and you have done a good job stretching the body.

Thank you. I did not see them as attacking me as such...I understand where they are coming from. I just regret the drama that followed.

When I get far enough to warrant a disabilities focused thread, I'll surely consider it...but with the degree of off focus mechanicals, I doubt it would be well received.

Given the funds and abilities, what I'd love to do is halfway between the original and your tub version. Shorten the tub body to the point that the backs of the front seats are about at the rear of the rear door opening, and then fit it with stretched doors. A mini tub. One of the Wintec Roadsters would be a great starting point.

    Hey, Bill;

Lots of options available to you. Thinking outside the box for solutions is going to be what you need, & then see if it/that solution can be modified to look sorta period (which ever one you're choosing to emulate). Think about this: given the car-crazy culture in the mid-40's -> the late-60's, you know w/o a doubt, that there were a number of handicapped kids that would've done almost anything to join the car-scene; if only they could've. Really a different culture(for them)back then - unfortunately... ;( . & I'm more than a bit sensitive to this aspect - for a couple of reasons. Where I'm going w/this is, consider what we have available in tech today, & what if the kid could've had access to it back then. Looks can be deceiving... :D .

As far as a shortened tub, w/a stretched door, while ford did a center-door sedan, I suppose you could emulate that in a tub. In ~'16, Studebaker *did* do a center-door tub. Not many made, & I seriously doubt any ever got hotrodded, but the idea has merit. They also did a rear-entry tub. You've already touched on a few solutions that would work well, just need to be 'camouflaged'. AKA: "wowing the troops". :D .

Not trying to harp on this, but one reason I mentioned Jim, is because I've seen his work, & the solution(s) he has come up with. If I could afford to buy a frame or even a roller, I'd have him do me one. Suffice it to say they are 'unique" - & strong/stable.

Lots of ways to skin the cat. Only problem is getting the cat to stand still long enough... :D . Hey, I do love me my cats... :D .

Would be way easier to discuss ideas as they roll out my ears, instead of laboriously typing things. Pm me ph# iffen you want .

    Marcus...

Thinking outside the box is the norm for me. I cut up the box long ago, and used it to model a strange idea I had...LOL.

Actually, I spend most of my days CAD modeling various ideas for this project. Right now I have 6 variations of this project active.

The idea for a mini-tub, without an insane amount of sheet metal work, would almost certainly have to be done with a fiberglass body. A center door tub, without that door being enlarged, would negate one of the main features I have in mind for a mini-tub...a larger door to give easier ingress/egress. Also, with a large enough door, the space behind the seat could be used for wheelchair storage. Now the wheels are turning oh how to make a powered wheelchair loader for a mini-tub....LOL

If Ron declines the frame job, I'll be giving Chip and Jim calls. A couple of those 6 versions are for that possibility.

Kinda the reason I was thinking a tub. Probably should shoot the breeze... :) . I'm a bit familiar w/wheelchair lifts, have sold one old one, have one in the garage, & have seen number of different types. I think one could be modified to work for t he back seating area of a tub, w/o being intrusive. As interesting as this is however, I think that this should be taken off this thread, as it's rather a long way from the subject matter. I'll continue this on PM, if you want. At least until said design gets on to paper, & maybe into mock-up. Then, it may be fair game.

Going PMs is fine by me, but I do not see this becoming a real project. The scope of something like we're talking about is way beyond me...health wise, skill wise, and financially.

Meanwhile, back to the topic of Nitrobrother's tub curiosity....

Got digging around Steve Stanfords renderings and ran across this, the redesigned turtle deck and sports car wire wheels are about all that takes it out of the traditional build scenario. Kind of stirs up my imagination tho. [IMG]

Funny. Stanford made it look English with just a few subtle mods! The guy's a magician!

    except for the draggin' pan...

  11. heck by pulling the mechanicals out of a Lancia or Fiat that would give one the double over head cam look of an old Offy engine fitted with a couple of side draught Webers and the full side single exhaust pipe down the other side one would be well on the way of creating a excellent 4 cylinder powered rod

Gary looks like your friend Steve has an eye or has been following this thread and paying attention to everything Chip has been preaching. Check out the grill height and position and height of the headlights, perfect. The wheelbase and position of the front wheels are just right. No big ugly gaps between the engine and radiator or firewall. Windshield leans back just right. Didn't some T's come out with a turtle deck like that? Anyway it looks good on this T. Oh yeah the body color and interior is perfect and no junk hanging off of it. If it had a little more classic spoke wheels it would be pretty perfect.
I hope what your building looks as good when your done.

The Turtle Deck looks like a modified Mullins trailer grafted on. Haven't had contact with Steve in a while and he hasn't been on for a Year. He does great work for sure.:)

The trunk looks very mid 20's Dodge to me. Neat illustration, I would expect nothing less from Mr. Stanford.

Hey, remember the 427-Ford-powered late '60s T that was posted a while back?
Just found out it was built by HAMBer Bangkok Dean, who pulled the engine from his B/D and swapped the Algon injectors for the 3x2 setup.

  17. Sweet! The previous owners claim the 392 in my T came out of a dragster as well, but I think at least half the 392's I've ever seen offered for sale had the same claim, so I don't put much stock in it.

Dont be sorry, that looks terrific. Once I can get to a real computer instead of my shoe phone, I'll look for the build thread.

I hope your not planning to drill any holes or attach anything to that beautiful firewall. It can be avoided. Other than the 1/4 X 20 polished carriage bolts holding it on mine is devoid of everything. It will mean a cable throttle looped under it and finding other mounting points for the Solenoid and the voltage regulator. You can do it.

Eric, I don't blame you for showing that off, it is gorgeous, I would probably find more threads than you have, to show that off, if it was mine!:rolleyes::rolleyes:
