If you bought a Franklin in 1922, you obviously got a serious piece of equipment. That's amazingly complete, best of luck with it!

That is really nice. It looks to be in very good condition.
Also appears to be complete with nothing missing that I
could tell. I would like to know the story of where it came
from and how it was stored to enable the car to remain
    intact and so well preserved.

The car was stored in and old school house for the last 50 years and that is how it is in such good condition needs work but me and my boy are working on it we got the motor running and know we are working on getting tires for it but they are quite salty but one step at a time.

That's a breath of hot air. First V'd windshield in a long time that looks right. A real find. Take your time and do it right.

Rims are ok and in good shape just need new tires and tubes to go for test drive.

  18. The very first pic had me thinking, Cars, as in, the movie.

I was thinking of asking what hop up mods you have planned, for the benefit of the purists, :D but its worth a lot more restored, and a cool piece of history.

....so, how much you gona chop it?:D;)

WELCOME to the HAMB! Nice car, looks like it found a good caretaker. For those that don't know it these cars had the best steering box in the day and just about 90% of the dirt track cars up to the early 1950's used them. Bob

Not looking to chop it my boy wants to fix what needs fixing and leave the rest alone then we can drive it and take it to car shows to show it in its glory.

  22. Yup, I figured that, was just having some fun, even thought of giving Moose a pic of it for the Photoshop thread. ;)
This car is cool as it is, and as yourve already got it running, sounds like it'd be easy to fix the rest.

What size tire does it take? Will yo go for new ones or are you looking for good used ones? You'll need a rim spreading tool, they are on eBay for under $50.00. Bob

Yea yea, keeping it original is my vote...runs nice....the steering box info is great.....

  25. Great find, it sounds awesome in the video. To add to what Bob said the Franklin front axle was also used on early race cars. I think most have heard or read about how the Franklin Steering and front axle were used in Hot Rods & race cars but rarely if ever have they seen a complete Franklin Automobile. Thank you for posting and good luck getting it out and about.

The Franklin has truckloads of character, and while I know we wouldn't REALLY cut one up, it might be fun to do a rendering. I've been looking for an excuse to do a "Friday Art Show" sketch. Hot Rod Franklin?.....hmmmm:cool:

Be careful where you store that car. It has a wood frame. Don't expect to fly up the Hometown hill. They had less horsepower then a model A Ford in a heavier car. The Franklin car club should be able to help you with info on the car.

Yes the frame is 3 layers of ash and in very good condition for being 92 years old
