replace with urethane, frm So-Cal.. only havta once.

If you put adjustment at front, it kinda looks better, from the side, and it make caster alignment easier.

It appears to me that the angle of the 4 bar end and the bolt do not match. That's what likely tore up the bushing, although I haven't seen the rubber bushings used in over 30 years. If you put the urethane bushings in I bet you can't get the bolt to line up. The 4 bar seems perpendicular to the bolt so a new straight end might work. I'm also concerned about the shock travel. The drivers side only has about an inch and the p*** side might be 2 inches. Were the brackets welded in that crooked? A lot of wore out marginal parts here that need to be tuned up by an experienced professional.

    Ditto.

I mentioned there may be issues in the front end in the steering thread about this car. These images confirm my su****ions.

Several of the hot rod shops have adjustable bar ends in 5° and 9° which make them appear to be out of alignment.

redo32 means the bolt is not in alignment with the centreline of the bush and bar end.

Yes, cranked bar ends are available (in fact most rear ones are like this), but, the bolt has to follow the centreline.

    It looks hokey to me.

    p.s.
It also looks like a ton of adjustment has been wound into/out of the bars , probably in an attempt to gain some caster. This tells me the front cross member was probably not set-up correctly at the frame building stage.

Well for starters I am not sure what people have done trying to "adjust" the front end...
As far as that angle tearing that bushing up...all of them in the front end are dry rotted...
I will check some of this out at work today including the kingpin angle and the zerks...
Meanwhile I would like to get some new bushings ordered up...are they all the same size...???
Looking around it appears as tho the OD of the bushings are all the same with various IDs...
    1/2...9/16...and 5/8...correct...???
Where is the best place to buy them...???
As far as getting it tuned by a "professional"...I doubt there any of those anywhere close to me...
I live in a little country town, it is 35-40 miles to the nearest town in any direction...

    Thanx for your help :)

It seems to have upset you that the guys told you about the misalignment ,but I think they were trying to help. They saw it before I did or I would have said it. As for all the same size just measure id od and length

Pete & Jakes has the good urethane bushings, as HRP mentioned. The OD of the inner sleeve is the same and the ID varies to match the attaching bolt size.

I would measure the ID of the ends and OD of your sleeves to be confirm compatibility, recently came across odd size stuff when fixing a generic (Chinese) 4 bar set up.

If the angle of adjustable end is off as it appears; there is (or was) a vendor that sold adjustable angle rod ends; tho it would probably be easier and more economical to just make a set of ends to match your need.

Didn't look at your other thread; but I would evaluate the complete set up before repairing any portion of it. Sometimes better to start fresh.

When I saw that front end, first thing I did was just shake my head, hope the angle might be helped by reversing the 4 bar, I didn't want to get critical right away. Never know about peoples "feelers," Not to worry, here comes the "pile on gang" to try and help..
Glad the owner is receptive to everybody's input.

All the info in this thread is correct as far as I can tell. Now for my $00.02 worth. I replaced the bushings on my coupe 6mo. ago with P&J orange polyutherine bushings. You can get black also. After doing some research on libercant for these bushings this is what I came up with. For rubber bushings use oil on the sleeve and the bushing. For the polly bushing use anti-corrosion grease bought a marine boat shop. It looks and feels like creamy peanut ****er as it is water proof and stays in place. After 6mo. I have no squeaks. The Mercury brand 8oz. tube was 8 bucks.........

Is it the car in yer Avatar? I noticed the exhaust would be close to the four bar, Could it be when your waiting, and its running the heat has stressed the rubber?

    just wondered..
