Patience and Perseverance Jim, the lighter distributor advance springs should help the 60 ft when the
slicks bring down engine rpms at launch.;) Remember 5 jet sizes up when plugging power valve:eek:

Just so you know I am jealous of you guys on the track and braking parts.
I was checking the deck height on a block that I hope will be at a future melt down with some boss 9 heads and 520 inches of putting chevys on the trailer power. 20150606_170748.jpg

Is that how to check deck height? Never saw it done but was thinking it was more scientific somehow ;)

Not sure if that's the way they do it but that's was the way I did it. Would it look more scientific if I wasn't standing on the engine stand.

Got my stuff in the mail from Summit (5 point harness, mounting tabs, wind age tray, main and head studs)
And the electrical system stuff from Mark Hamilton at Mad Enterprises (trunk mount battery kit, headlight and starter relays, wiring manual, etc) so we should be able to really start making progress!
Anyone who has had trouble trying to get ahold of Mark:
Call him at night. He doesn't have a voicemail,or an email address, and he seems to like to work at night cause it's cooler.
If you want to learn a bit about electrical theory as it applies to cars,or want to hear a funny story about the NHRA getting grouchy about some shady rules in the book, you owe it to yourself to talk to Mark!
A really unique and talented individual who loves to share his knowledge.Be warned:If you don't have at least an hour to spare, call him another time!:)

Talked to Ric about pistons,Lance about the block, and everything is on track to start reassembling this car in the next two weeks!

I'm like a kid at Christmas here!!

Norb, parts arrived today. Got new correct plug wires on & springs in distributor tonight...! I started it up & it cold idles now! Bumped fuel pressure gauge up, lil low.... Man it sounds angry now or its the Ghost of my pissed off brother, for threatening to drop a Chevy in it!?! LOL...
Also ordered a assortment of carb springs & brackets, should be able to figure out how to get dual springs on other carb now! [emoji2]
Next get new timing pointer on & get it timed.
Scott good to hear things are coming together for you! That's going to be one angry beast of a Mustang...! [emoji41]
    Jimbo...

    Jim

Do you have access to a degree wheel and piston stop to qualify top dead center?

Did Dick trickle have a pair of lucky shoes that he always raced with?
If Jay has the same boots on at Byron Meltdown as in your pic. we can
    start calling him Dick:p

Glad you're getting the bugs worked out of it Jim.Feels good to squeeze more power out of a combo just by tweaking the small stuff, doesn't it?:)

And my car's just a lil Ol grocery getter that's got a little more steam than it had last year, that's all...:)

Finally finished the 2014 give-away dragster. I built a Nailhead for it. Other than a few burnouts a few weeks ago at the local airport, there's nowhere to make a full pass. So the Meltdown will be the first full run on the car. I have no idea what the performance on it will be. I guess It's better that way. Sounds like more fun there anyway. I don't do the internet or very little email. I guess I am to old to learn, so my wife is doing this for me. Here are a few pictures of the finished car. Can't wait to get there. I saw the write up on my car that Smokey put in, but I have to tell you Smoky, Scott, AJ, Koop and all the guys at the Meltdown Drags, you are my inspiration. And from an old racer that quit racing 50 years ago, thanks for that. I feel about 55 years old again! This year I will be bringing my son Adam out with me. He wants to drive the car. I hope you all come by to say Hi, if I don't see you first. Merek Chertkow and his beautiful wife Cathy. Ham 1.jpg Ham 2.jpg Ham 3.jpg ham 4.jpg
