  1. Here a few with both black and white with the rear lowered and chrome wheels. You talked about black wings and I assume that means fenders???

  2. Mmm, black fenders makes me think 'taxi.'

  3. You do realise I was joking;)

My first reply was serious. Rolling stock and a rear end lowering would be more economical than a complete and good quality repaint. Do the lowering and rolling stock and as I say, you may find the paint wasn't the problem you thought it was.

I also like the darker solid colors. I like the dark blue, but red would be my second choice. Don't put black on the fenders unless your are going to paint the whole car black, which is also not a bad option. Would have suggested you put this on the photoshop thread, but I see Moose has already added his talent here...thanks Moose, it really lets us compare the options. Have you considered a really deep dark green metallic? I assume you are prepared to redo the interior to match the new paint scheme? Note that the process of lowering the back via photoshop has also had the illusion of re-centering the back wheels in the wheel wells, which would also be required ( and in my opinion, should be done) to get the same effect.

  5. How about some pics of the car outside on the cloudy gloomy days.
Let the color play off of natures ugly grey side.

Muted light instead of showcased by the sun.

Harley black pearl is a neat color.
It's a good looking dark charcoal in the shade or on overcast days or inside. Out in the sun I can't tell you what color it is because its all of them. Multi color small metal flake pops red blue yellow green orange purple, neat color.

That's impressive thanks themoose great work
The lowed back does make a big difference the wheels are great
The black wings ( fenders) don't work but a darker cherry red may do
Can I ask you to do a few contrasting colours.

    Apologies X38
This post potentially could cost me thousands of ££'s if I get it wrong .
I also value the opinion of you guys and when a design is right I'm sure everyone will agree
    So please keep posting ideas.

    Some very good advice whtbaron
The problem in the UK is the most Plymouth's Chevy's are painted blue .
The interior has not been done yet and will be influenced by the exterior colour.
Regards the wrong area for posting apologies I wasn't aware of a Photoshop thread I will do next time round.
Moose does have a great talent (wish I did)
I had an Irish mother who considered green unlucky .
It must have worn of on to me stupid I known!
Centering the wheels do you mean that the axle should be moved backwards?
    Good post whtbaron thankyou

  9. 1. A lot of 1930's cars don't have the rear wheels centred in the wheel arch for some reason. Neither are 53-56 F-100's front wheels.
    2. When you raise or lower the suspension on a car (away from being level) it can also alter the centering of the wheel.

It's up to the builder, but these issues can be addressed when working on the rear. In the end, whether on a rake or tail down, wheels do look better centered.

The wheel change makes a lot of sense it's now going to happen.
Currently it has 15 rims fitted what would you suggest?

  11. For the heck of it I did a subtle two tone on a cloudy day.

Sorry, I still haven't seen anything that looks better than the current blue that is on the car. Certainly nothing that would warrant spending the money to change it. JMO

So far I'm sold on the tail drop and wheel change
    Small amount but big change.

  17. Dick...The premise at the beginning of the post to quote Tyresmoke, was "The paint looks better than it is !
Here in good old England the sun doesn't always shine to show the paint at its best so will need a colour that will look good rain or shine.". so it sounds like paint is in the near future anyway
If anyone has some ideas post them and we'll see what Tyresmoke thinks and if he like to see on I'll do a rendering for him.

    Hi Vicky with a hemi
Thank you for taking the time to post your pictures.
    Much appreciated.
Black pearl does look good but I'm looking more to wards a lighter colour.
I do like the black cherry could moose please do a render in that colour please with with smoothy rims and white wall tyres

    Attached Files:

  20. You say - Black pearl does look good but I'm looking more to wards a lighter colour.
And then post 2 pix of darkerer ones to render.
:)Don't they have coffee over there?

This can be blue too instead of red. Black as black can be but red in direct angle of the sun. image.jpg image.jpg

I'll say that the Harley color does not photograph and represent well at all in a picture. Best to see it live. And I want to paint a car this color but I don't have one slated yet. Sooooo I think you should :)

I would go along with getting rid of the white letter tires, but the wheels are O.K.

  25. I did this angle as the your second second is almost the same as the first so it would be pointless to do it....

Once again moose you nailed it.
Surprisingly it's still good but lost a little later.
Would it be better to go a shade or two lighter
    What do you think moose??
