I lived right off Marsh Ln in Walnut Hills section of Dallas,,Bill lived at home with his parents way out west on Valley View, Ln..on a farm,in Carrollton..Bill built his dragster in my one car garage..sadly,Bill did not have much success with that dragster.

Many of the early Chaparrals had NHRA member numbers less than 100.

Great shots, that Buick in the foreground has some interesting custom touches.

I believe that Olin Davis passed away several years ago?

I was luckey to have Olin as a life long friend. Always ready to help or give advice. Knew him from high school and we had lots of fun together.

Well Damn... Anderson shared this photo with me yesterday. So freaking cool. While I wouldn't want to sit on the bellhousing every time I drove my car, I may have to take some cues from this local bad boy.

Olin built his own Burial Urn out of a Chrysler Hemi Valve cover. After he passed and cremated his ashes placed in it. They had it at the funeral home at the memorial. There were a lot of old racers there, Wayne Calvert and Bobby Langley (SCORPION) and a number of outhers. Time is getting short for us. Frank

This was one of the nicest cars in Dallas. All of the welds in the chassis were hand filed.

Jim Carson was an automotive mechanic. His father owned Carson Automotive in old East Dallas near Lindsey street. The Chaparrals centered around Carson Automotive and had club meetings there.

Here are some vintage timing slips. Both from Caddo Mills and from Green Valley.
