I saw "Tension" today and visited with the owner. He actually got it bought out of that pasture near Soldier, IA and has it restored as it raced. It is now in Denison, IA. Ron
The 4 door is the McMaster- Gunning car that is a survivor. Here's a picture of the restored Tension car.
Don't know if this car has been posted, but pitted next to me at this years NHRA Hot Rod Reunion is the former Tom Nehan(sp?) '57 Chevy Jr stocker.
The correct spelling is "Neja." Your spelling would be phonetically correct if the last "n" is dropped.
My father sold the car back in 1985 or so. I think I still have the contact info for him. The guy who bought it did another restore on it and seems like he exhibition raced it some. Stock looking with no stickers or graphics.
That would be post # 9270 on page 309 (2012) if anyone is looking for it. Not exhibition but Nostalgia Super/Stock. Gene something? out of Cincinnati. Also, I believe Travis Miller was involved with that car somehow.
In case anybody thinks we might miss the 15 year rule discussion, this should cover it..... the decal guy didn't understand but printed them anyhow!!!
Bernie Pyles (MD) ... next owner was Billy Nierdergadas(sp?). Image was @ Suffolk 71 ('Little Guy Nationals') ... refueling in the staging lanes. Note: Bill repainted the wagon, but retained the car number.
The N.H.R.A. 15 year rule killed of the one the best group of classes they ever had. How could they have been this stupid to kill off such a popular group of drag racers. Jimbo
Lost a great man and old Jr/Stock racer today Frantic Fred Robinson. He and Ted Harbit were long time pals. Fred raced a Studebaker like Teds in the early years and later had 427 Ford Galaxies and Fairlanes. His son and grandson now race the Fords that Fred Built.
