Drifters of Redondo Beach, fuel coupe, note how far back the engine is..this shows how hard it was to work on the engine in a full-fendered coupe

Indy nationals, Dode Martin in the Dragmaster Two-Thing racing Bill Tibboles from Ohio. Tibboles ran a blown Olds and a blown Chevy

    INDYNATS069_zps28975dc4.jpg
Ernie's Camera Shop car from Glendale, CA, at the nationals...we remember it mostly painted red, but it was also black...usually ran gas but when Ivo had a chance to drive it (after his studio banned him from driving his 4-Buick car), he tried a low nitro dose...when Ernie Alvarado found out, he fired Ivo as driver.

Ed Pink's Old Master at Bakersfield...not sure who is driving....Don Long chassis

Another shot of Dave Deichman's sedan....It showed up engineless at Blair's after Dave sold it, and Jon Carlson and I were going to put Ron McKibben's injected Dodge in it and run it on fuel....too bad we didn't have any money (would have been foolish anyways, it was way too heavy in the early '60s to be competitive)

    img050.jpg
Joe Shubeck's blown gas burner, from Ohio. There was a brief time when mail/newspaper delivery boxes were used for injector scoops...Art Malone ran one also....

Frank Pedegon, maybe in Joe Winters fueler??

New picture that was found of my Uncle Jack's (De Bord) dragster at Lions in 1965. Jack drove it and we think Pat Legs Johnson drove it as well....before the gold accents.

It could be, I was going off the caption....as I look at it, the nose isn't quite the nose of the Old Master, which had reliefs on both sides of the axle...this might have been the same picture as this one, Bakersfield, '66

Dean, Herb Ries built that frame. Herb told me he made several rookie mistakes when building that car, like giving dimensions to the tube bender not using centerline of tube which made the drivers compartment a little snug. But he and Porter had success with it.
