Ted, how long did it take your Dad to build the car, and what were some of the major costs, and time consuming parts of the build? Was is a start to finish build or one modification at a time? Bob

Mark found me a new antenna at the swop meet, so i decided to change it. i wanted to change just the mast because i liked the look of the original stanchions . the mast was larger so i had to use the inner new hardware and open up the holes slightly in the stanchions. although close, the new rubber grommets [?] , needed to be widened to accept the original stanchions. looks great! i swopped out the skull shift knob with the one my dad had on it and reinstalled the tach and wired it up. i also ran the e-brake cable and adjusted it. the dash plaque under the tach was the first one i ever got [1982]. it is from the sycamore diner and was run by "digger Dave" and "weirdo Dino" and has had cruises there since. I think I know the answer but I'll ask, are those the original gauges that your dad had on the car?

this is the stage that the work shows every time i do something. squeezing it in around picnics and parties.

i "built" the dual gage. go back to page 9 of this thread, post 245 starts the procedure.

DSCF4167.JPG i put the hoses on and filled the radiator. i then installed the exhaust, including the new tail pipes i had made. i had the tail pipes made a little lower to clear the bigger fuel tank. non hamb friendly disclosure; i used s.s. band clamps to join the exhaust to the headers. they will allow the exhaust to be disconnected with out stressing the headers.

ok so till i can get it to load. i started it right up. grabbed the OTC timing light and it doesn't work so i grab another one, a cheap piece of crap monkey ward one and was able to time it. accurate?
valve covers are leaking, that is what i forgot to tighten.
tighten them but there is still a leak, but i was able to "break" the motor in. 12000 rpm for 2 minutes? no 2000 rpm for twelve minutes........i always get that back wards.o_O:D
i turn it off, the leak is coming from the front of the pan, so i pull the pan. it is the wrong gasket but i was able to put a piece of gasket material in the groove and put it back together and start it up.....no leaks.
then it dies, starts runs a little dies........no fuel. rear fuel pump dead and the front one can't pull through enough fuel to keep it running. take the fuel pump apart and it has a bunch of swollen o-rings/washers oozing out of the insides. swop that out with one i took off a running truck this spring......won't work....no matter how hard i beat it:cool: while changing it out my wire strippers broke in half. here is the pile of debris, i was able to trace a broken wire in the timing light, both fuel pump i think had trouble holding their alcohol. thanks Bob. sorry i missed you, neighbors called and needed help.......finishing some ice cream.:)
    thanks again for the "mag".

    thank you.
remembering to take pictures and writing up the progress takes a little planning. i fear there is not enough details, too much details and too much goofing around but i am glad your enjoying it.

Can't wait to hear her run. How are you going to mount the fenders with the headlights on or will you remove them? Dumb question just curious.

i have been trying to load the video so you can hear it, but it is above my pay grade.
it is only 6 bolts and two hoses and the grill shell will come back off. i need to drain the water and remove the upper hose to install the 2 four manifold any way so i don't mind taking it on and off.....easier than working over a nicely painted fender.
    waiting on the fuel pump...........
