worked on the air filters. i had them chromed but did not want to put them back together with the horse hair filter. i picked up a couple k&n air filters to cut down to fit. i removed the rubber gasket from the new filter, and opened up the inner flange. i then took the chrome air cleaner apart and removed the inner mesh. i then cut the filter down to size, 3 1/4" and then to seal it, i made a rubber gasket for the top and bottom. i think this should work out fine. DSCF4175.JPG DSCF4177.JPG

Just tuning in for tonight's installment of 'Somebody's getting something done around here'. Sweet air cleaners. What I like about your photos is you leave all the tools and crap laying around.

It sorta looks like your work bench is only held up by a rough old stack of timber blocks, don't go working away on it too hard!

That setup looks cool as, can't wait to see it on the car.
I'm really enjoying this rebuild, keep up the good work!

yes it does look like it is on the pile of wood. but there are six legs on that table with 6 big casters. i have actually set cars on that table and rolled them out from under the lift.
thanks, i am glad your enjoying!

this engine sounds so different from the near stock 283 i had in it. dad always liked/had the car quiet, think "sleeper". i used the glass packs, sitting in the middle of the 2" exhaust, with full tail pipes to give it a "tame" sound, but when i jumped on it it had a little "roar". this engine may need different mufflers.

fuel pump arrived. i went with a carter marine pump, it was the only pump that said it would work with ethanol fuels. i decided to mount it on some rubber mounts i had, to quiet it down, now i just need get a new filter. i was happy to see it was made in the u.s.a.

Red air filter screens look fine, should help quiet the red wheel requests. Bob

my neighbor will help but they are in full "hay" mode, so i have to catch him before the dew burns off or after they load the barn........it's after 10 now and i can hear the tractor moving around.
i can always use a crate.

pulled off the bracket and mounted the generator on the header directly, with the help of another bracket i had, so i could take the valve cover off easier to adjust the valves. while the bracket was off i contoured the corners to match the bracket my dad had made. my neighbor helped me put the seat in early Saturday morning.

That was nice since his cows match the interior. Bob
