Where can you get the traditional style early Ford wheels and bias tires ? I'm considering a set for my RPU. I'm thinking 4.50 -16 for the front and 7.50-16 for the rear. For tires, the Firestones would probably be the way to go. I wasn't thinking today when I was at Brian Bass's shop or I would have asked him. May have to call him tomorrow.
George Moir in Stony Plain is a Coker dealer he can probably get wheels as well considering he specialized in early Ford stuff.
If you have the early Ford 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern, how about early Ford wheels from around 39 to 48 ? Those are available all over the place and usually go for around $25 a wheel. Don
Just talked with Brian on the phone and he had the info on all of it. 40 Ford wheels and Firestone champion tires in the sizes I listed are what he has on his roadster. He also said that Coker has the tires and reproductions of the wheels in the bolt pattern I would need. He also had a few other tips.
That's the problem, I don't have the early Ford bolt pattern. I have 5 on 4.5 Ford. Brian said that Coker sells that pattern. Or apparently an International wheel from the 40s will be 16" and have the right bolt pattern as well as looking just like an early Ford wheel.
I'm afraid there is going to be some big coin spent on all of that.......buying US right now with the low CDN dollar is going to hurt along with the broker fees and shipping expense. Check Kijiji across Canada first....you probably can find wheels and maybe the bigger size Firestones as maybe they are changing over to the radial style........good luck!
When I checked, before the dollar took a*****, it was about a wash between ordering from here and getting the discount from Coker with shipping and duty etc. They one thing I thought was if there were any problems with the tires I would rather have someone local to deal with than hassle and pay to ship them back to the U.S.
The Canadian dollar being down is a kick in the you know whats this summer. Between the RPU being at Rod Tops and hanging out here in Texas for 1/2 the summer it's having an effect on the pocketbook. What the hell is what I say, I won't end up taking any of it with me in the end anyway. And it's hard to put a price on time spent with kids and grandkids, all 15 of them.
