  5. Yesterday afternoon, the '40 stake truck, a.k.a. "The Not Rod", took me over to it's studio session. American National Property and Casualty is building their catalog of images to have available for future marketing materials, and their art director wanted to have photos of the truck. I gotta say, I was quite honored to have it in the studio. Here's a few shots, from the peanut gallery, as the art director and the photographer worked their magic.

For those of you who are not familiar with the story of the truck, my great-aunt and uncle bought it from the original owner, back in the 70's. After many years of trying to buy it from her, and as she approached her 90'th birthday, she agreed to give it to me to be it's caretaker, as long as I would not make it a hot rod. (why it's called the "Not Rod") I gave it an altitude adjustment, added BIGS and littles, had Dale West stripe the cab, and added some dual pipes, but other than that, it is mostly stock. Yes...I am a very blessed '40 Ford owner.

This is the winter project I haven't been able to get at yet. Building up some motivation for some late night thrashes after the kids are asleep.

  10. Thanks, guys, for the kind comments and all the "likes" of my photo session post. Since I was a kid, I have always envisioned it with a set of bigs and littles, and having dual glasspacks. While not as slick as a regular 1/2 ton pickup, it's definitely got it's unique character.

  11. Gene's coupe ranks up there in my top 5 "iconic" 40 coupes. I still prefer the look when he had a set of 5 spokes on it, but it is definitely one of my all time favorites.

  12. This is the 40 coupe My pal Dave built a few years ago,he is the same guy that helped me build the wagon.

I guess I don't have to say how utterly bad-ass your car looks.

    50Fraud, you left out "curves.";)
Oh, I thought you were talking about HRP's pic of a 39 coupe.
Nevermind... the picture you were speaking of does have a nice car and some curves but none to match the curves in HRP's pic of the 39 coupe.:D
    Late night, and silly, Al

Gene Sonnen's coupe at an ISCA show in 1968. Some cars are timeless, aren't they? Posted by Gene on social media yesterday.

This morning was a chamber of commerce weather day! Bright blue skies, 80s, low humidity. We went to Coffee and Cars at Roger's Redline Diner, held first Sunday of the month. Then off to Exeter to Me and Olllies for some bagels and coffee on their sidewalk cafe under the trees. Parked across the street, where I could see the car (paranoid) under the marque of the Old Ioka movie theater. Good morning for me and the missus.

This is today's social media '39-40 post. By the way, for you HAMB guys in New England, Woodies in the Cove is August 22nd, in Wells, ME. 10401962_698540166918498_7398860211522753309_n.jpg
