That's going to be a great first build.
Pull this challenge off and there's not much that will discourage you.

haha, yeah it looks like someone got a cutting torch for Christmas... "look ma, I'm cuttin'!!!" haha. No idea why someone would take the middle of the quarters out and peel the roof open like a banana. The only thing that seems to be missing is the wood. Maybe they needed firewood? haha.

 

Looking forward to seeing this come together.

 

Yes, I found the serial number on the drivers side part of the frame in front of the firewall (top rail), where it had been folded. Happy to have found it.

 

Planning to run a small block chevy with a T5 or TKO500. I'd like to use an intake with triple Stromberg's. Ford 9" rear end. Dropped 32 heavy axle with split bones.

Of the gajillian or so 32 Fords produced I so often wonder how many we have saved.

 

Very cool that it's being saved. Rust wise, it really doesn't look too bad. Any idea how long it had been sitting?

 

The previous owner thought since at least the 60's, so its been a while. The parts that weren't cut out by someone are actually pretty solid. Even the rear pan doesn't need any patch panels. Subrails and floor will all be replaced though.

 

Yep, looks like they just cut em some flat metal out for a random need.

 

Yeah, exactly what you guys said. Someone needed a piece of sheet metal. Seen this happen to otherwise cherry doors. Too bad they didn't mine the doors instead. Pair of UP quarters may be the quickest way to a nice body.

The firewall looks early. Is the serial number low in the series? (V8's were 18-001 to 18-206000 or so. The early B's had a serial number that started with AB-.)

 

Mine starts with an AB

 

If I'm correct, yours would have had the hood with the last louver open rather than closed and model A type hood latches.
