Tuck, the hub in your post 176, are you saying both sides of the flange are flat? No raised boss for the studs and no taper?
What are the #'s on these?

    @30tudor

No numbers on them- here's a better pic- pretty sure they're standard 46-8 ford that mount on the outside of the drum. You can spot them right away-

You can buy new hubs 37-48 listed on eBay- maybe someone can chime in here but the ford hubs vary- some hubs have ribs (40 ford) etc...

I scored the tapered ford hubs/drums and backing plates for 50 bucks- the Buick drums I paid $80 for the pair. $30 in studs and lug nuts.

Yea, I have a pair of the ones shown at the bottom of your last picture, they are thinner with the boss at the stud location. O1A 1106-C1 is the ID. I find the thicker ones at the top of the picture more interesting. Wanna trade? I'm in the market as it were to get to the 5x4.5 pattern.

The thick ones are going on my roadster and are drilled for Chevy- I don't have any other hubs to help you out- although if I come across some in the next couple weeks I'll pm ya-

Tuck isn't the school year about to start? And will this slow down your crazy shopping spree down?

Couple weeks and school starts and yeah it'll slow it down to a full stop. I just wanted to gather as much of it together as I could while I have the time to run around and do that because I won't during the school year. Every weekend counts!

It's either time or money- now I have the money and don't have the time... Oh well. I'll just keep bustin ass and hopefully it'll all work out in the end-

Really looking forward to having my little girl grow up exposed to all of this stuff... Maybe she'll grow up to be rad?! I hope after I'm long gone she'll be ripping around in my roadster or coupe... (-; or building one of her own.

^^My daughter already has a "boyfriend":confused:, there is this little guy named Joseph in her kindergarten class. Hes actually a pretty sweet little guy, I like him. Kids really are awesome, I volunteer in her K class sometimes, I really get a kick out of them, some of them just crack me up. We are meeting 3 of her school friends at the library in about an hour for story time, one of the girls we are meeting is really funny. Her dad is of Chinese origin, and I grow a pretty heavy beard. I dropped Emily off and I hadn't shaved yet. She looked at me and said "WHAT is THAT??!!" and started rubbing my face. She thought my whiskers were really weird. Man they are funny...so much fun.

Tuck, man, you are just getting started. Its an amazing journey, and I am only 6 yrs into it. My daughter wants "a pink Model A with sparkles" (metalflake).:D Shes like her dad, likes her hot rods loud, fast and rowdy. I don't know if its really gonna take, and honestly, I don't care that much. I'm just loving the journey with her.

Shaved my heavy chest length beard of a few weeks ago. I even let the kids help but it was the strangest day, they just couldn't get used to it. I started to think I'm ugly without it as do I. Last year while welding on my PU frame I would pretty much rip some whiskers out three or four times a day lifting they ol'welding mask, ouch!
Tuck keep an eye out for missing Hot Rod parts she might make some shoes out of coolant log or eat some chili(you fed a baby chili mister!) out of one of your many SP topped 48s.

I'm actually still gathering parts for the conversion. I have a set of '49 F3 front plates that will be making their way here soon enough. I have a '46-'48 hub about to get here too.. Just need one more hub. That would be awesome if you did the machining for me but I don't have everything yet. Just a set of 45-fin drums sitting pretty in the garage. I'll let you know if I want to take you up on the offer. A local buddy has been bugging me to take my business to Bob Wilson which is just an half-hour from me.

I guess this means the F1 hubs won't work? They absolutely have to be passenger car hubs?

Please take lots and lots of pictures of the conversion! I don't mind being the "Idiot" in your "Idiot's Guide to Buick Finned Drums Conversion." :)

I don't know anything about those F-1 Hubs so I can't comment one way or another.

I have a nice pair of buick drums with hubs remembered that there were adapters made by @29RAT to run the buick hubs on ford spindles. If I do this I can retain the 5x5 bolt pattern at the same time. I'm going to put these 5x5.5 finned drums on my pickup instead.

$70. It took him 6 days to answer my initial pm, so be a bit patient, but he shipped right away. for all the hassle/machine work the other methods entail, this is a good way to go. I am thinking about re-drilling the buick hubs/drums to 5 on 4 3/4, so I can find a pair of vintage 15x6 five spokes easier. They are not as common in 5 on 5.

Here's a pic of the drums on my truck- I dig them on here a lot!! It's going to be a full fender truck so figured it was uncalled for but after seeing them on here... Case closed.

I'm having issue with the idea of building this coupe on a deuce frame. I don't think I want too... Has nothing to do with any added cost or anything... I just think its the way I like seeing channeled model a's.

Have this urge to build a nice solid set of A rails- z'd just inside the firewall with a mild kick in the back channeled over the frame- f-1 crossmember made into a K- fully boxed rails... Enough of a rake I can run bobbed fenders in the rear.

I don't know what it is... But I just don't get excited about deuce frames. Maybe if it was a deuce?? I dunno...

    Really on the fence.

I have this for the t-bucket as well, and open letter Cobra valve covers, t-pan, vintage SW green stripes, '57 9" housing, and a bunch of other stuff. The holleys are going to be replaced with early small-neck AFB's, but I need to figure out adapters to mate them with the 40-40's.
    DSCF0040.JPG
I am using the adapters on a pair of squarebacks with cherry '39/'40 backing plates, 45 fins, drilled and split bones, and a dropped and drilled '33/'34 axle, with re-worked Model A rails. Its a car I have wanted to build since I was a kid, when I saw pics of Dennis DeBenidictus T-Bucket in hot rod. I need a comet/falcon T-10 for it, other than that, I have pretty much everything lined up.

Just got back from Oklahoma and pulled the olds apart- if anyone wants the hardtop it's on eBay- I gave it to my buddy I think he listed it for A buck- hope it brings him some $-

I pulled the column and all the pedal stuff- rear and the engine- the drive shaft and yolk was in the trunk- right spline but it was too long for the car-

On our trip I bought a car trailer from my wife's grampa and a 34 frame that came out of Oklahoma City. (-:

tuck, whats done to your 59 so it can pull a trailer? I put a trailer behind mine last week and the back bumper was dragging the ground! and that was with the car all the way on the back of the trailer

I use a torsion bar hitch and I sectioned a hitch assembly off a full size Chevy truck. The hitch levels the load between the axles- it would bottom out the ass of the ranch without them-
